Ochai Agbaji played 16 minutes off the bench in Monday’s win over the New Zealand Breakers, tallying 12 points (4-of-8 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), four rebounds, three assists, one steal, two blocks, and two 3-pointers.
After emerging as a player worth picking up late in his rookie season, Agbaji is looking to further establish himself in Year Two. If his NBA career is anything like his four-year run at Kansas, he could be well on his way. As a collegian, Agbaji improved from year to year, and he looked good on both ends of the floor on Monday. His place within the Jazz rotation could depend on how the starting point guard competition shakes out. Should Jordan Clarkson be the choice, it could be determined that there’s a greater need for a more defensively-inclined backcourt partner, thus opening the door for either Agbaji or Talen Horton-Tucker.
