Jose Alvarado accounted for eight points (3-of-7 FGs), two rebounds, four assists, two steals, and two 3-pointers in Thursday’s 133-89 loss to the Lakers.
Alvarado, who played 20 minutes off the bench, brought forth the effort he usually does in Las Vegas. But that didn’t matter much, as the Lakers blew things open in the second quarter and didn’t look back. Alvarado’s rostered in 17% of Yahoo leagues, and his value to the Pelicans’ rotation is far greater than his value to fantasy managers. Unless the Pelicans were to lose CJ McCollum (9/4/2/2 with one 3-pointer in 25 minutes) to injury, there isn’t much to be gained from rostering Alvarado.

Nickeil Alexander-Walker accounted for 17 points (6-of-17 FGs, 2-of-4 FTs), one rebound, four assists, one block and three three-pointers in Saturday’s Game 1 loss to the Knicks.
Highlights: Green pushes Suns to No. 8 seed
Jalen Green dropped 36 points on 14-of-20 shooting to lead the Suns past the Warriors and secure the West's No. 8 seed in the postseason.
  • ATL Guard #3
CJ McCollum amassed 26 points (11-of-20 FGs, 0-of-2 FTs), four rebounds, one assist, one block and four three-pointers in Saturday’s Game 1 loss to the Knicks.
  • ATL Forward-Center #17
Onyeka Okongwu tallied 19 points (6-of-9 FGs, 3-of-4 FTs), seven rebounds, two assists, one block and four three-pointers in Saturday’s Game 1 loss to the Knicks.
  • ATL Forward #1
Jalen Johnson finished Saturday’s Game 1 loss to the Knicks with 23 points (8-of-19 FGs, 4-of-4 FTs), seven rebounds, three assists and three three-pointers.
  • NYK Guard #3
Josh Hart notched 10 points (4-of-8 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), 14 rebounds, five assists and three steals in Saturday’s Game 1 win over the Hawks.
  • NYK Forward-Guard #8
OG Anunoby (ankle) amassed 19 points (6-of-9 FGs, 5-of-6 FTs), eight rebounds, one steal and two three-pointers in Saturday’s Game 1 win over the Hawks.
Anunoby had an injury scare during the third quarter of Saturday’s series opener, as he sprained his left ankle on a drive to the basket. While the Knicks forward exited the game immediately, he wasn’t on the bench for long before returning. Anunoby played 38 minutes, and the Knicks will likely need him to take on a similar workload in Game 2 on Monday. If Anunoby is limited or can’t play, Mikal Bridges (11/2/1/1 with one three-pointer) will have to bring more to the table offensively.
  • NYK Center-Forward #32
Karl-Anthony Towns recorded 25 points (6-of-13 FGs, 10-of-10 FTs), eight rebounds, four assists, one steal, three blocks and three three-pointers in Saturday’s Game 1 win over the Hawks.
Towns started slowly on Saturday, attempting two shots during the first half. The 7-footer was far more impactful after halftime, helping the Knicks push their lead to as much as 18 before holding on. As was the case during the regular season, the Knicks need to keep Towns engaged offensively to reach their full potential. Backup Mitchell Robinson (three points, four rebounds, one assist and two blocks) played 15 minutes off the bench, and there was just one short segment in which he and Towns were on the floor together.
  • NYK Guard #11
Jalen Brunson finished Saturday’s Game 1 win over the Hawks with 28 points (9-of-22 FGs, 7-of-8 FTs), five rebounds, seven assists, one steal and three three-pointers.
Brunson shot 6-of-18 from inside the arc in Game 1, but an efficient 3-of-4 day from three helped compensate for those struggles. Between Dyson Daniels and Nickeil Alexander-Walker, the Hawks have two perimeter defenders capable of making things difficult for Brunson. However, he still managed to finish Game 1 with 28 points, and the seven assists were countered by just two turnovers. The Knicks will look to take a 2-0 series lead on Monday night.
  • HOU Guard #15
Reed Sheppard, Amen Thompson, Josh Okogie, Jabari Smith Jr. and Alperen Şengün will start Saturday’s Game 1 against the Lakers.
Three of the four best players in this series won’t be available for Game 1, as Kevin Durant has joined the Lakers’ Luka Dončić and Austin Reaves on the sidelines due to a knee contusion. Sheppard returns to the starting lineup, and he’ll shoulder a heavy workload along with Thompson and Şengün as playmakers within the Rockets’ offense.
  • HOU Forward #7
Kevin Durant (knee) is out for Saturday’s Game 1 against the Lakers.
Initially questionable, Durant will miss Saturday’s series-opener due to a right knee contusion. During his pregame availability, Rockets head coach Ime Udoka said that he hopes this is a one-game issue. With no Durant, Reed Sheppard will move into the starting lineup after coming off the bench the last time that Houston was close to full strength.
