Luka Doncic played 43 minutes in Monday’s 131-129 win over Orlando, scoring 45 points (12-of-23 FGs, 18-of-21 FTs) with nine rebounds, 15 assists, two steals, and three 3-pointers.
Doncic has been nearly unstoppable over the past three weeks, scoring 31 points or more in eight of his last nine games. During that run, according to Basketball Monster, he’s ranked second in 8- and 9-cat per-game value. With Kyrie Irving (thumb) sidelined, opposing defenses have focused even more on Doncic, but it hasn’t mattered. Named an All-Star Game starter last week, Doncic may need to be included in some halfway-point MVP discussions, given how well he’s played for the shorthanded Mavericks.
