The Hornets have signed Charles Lee to a four-year deal to be their next head coach, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Lee has spent the past 12 years coaching in the NBA after playing professionally overseas for a few seasons. Lee spent time on Mike Budenholzer’s staff in both Atlanta and Milwaukee, and he is currently the top assistant coach for Boston. When the Celtics’ postseason run ends, Lee’s focus will shift to helping Charlotte through their rebuild.

Robert Williams (knee) is probable to play against the Clippers on Friday.
Williams was initially questionable for this game but is now expected to play after missing Tuesday’s game, which was the second of a back-to-back. Williams will continue fill out the reserve center minutes behind Donovan Clingan, which will reduce Duop Reath’s minutes.
Grading every NBA Christmas Day matchup
Numbers on the Board hands out their grades for Christmas Day's slate of NBA games, analyzing the Knicks' comeback over the Cavs, Nikola Jokic's takeover, and JJ Redick's comments on the Lakers.
  • POR Forward #24
Kris Murray (neck) is probable to play against the Clippers on Friday.
Murray was initially questionable for this game but is now expected to suit up. He will continue to fill in as a starter in place of Jerami Grant, who is set to miss a fourth straight game with left Achilles tendonitis.
  • NYK Guard #2
Miles McBride (ankle) is questionable to play against the Hawks on Saturday.
McBride has been sidelined since Dec. 7 but could make his return against Atlanta. Josh Hart (ankle) has been ruled out, so McBride could take on extended minutes in his first game back. Jordan Clarkson and Tyler Kolek could lose minutes if McBride returns, though both have played well recently.
  • NYK Guard #3
Josh Hart (ankle) has been ruled out against the Hawks on Saturday.
Hart exited early from Thursday’s game against Cleveland, and he will remain sidelined for at least one more game. Tyler Kolek, who has been excellent recently, was part of the closing lineup and could start against Atlanta. Miles McBride (ankle) is questionable and could take on extra minutes if he returns.
  • MIL Guard #5
Gary Trent Jr. (calf) has been ruled out against the Grizzlies on Friday.
Trent exited early on Tuesday, and after initially being listed as questionable, he will remain sidelined against Memphis. Ryan Rollins played 33 minutes off the bench in Milwaukee’s last game and has been excellent as a reserve recently, but he could return to the starting lineup with Trent sidelined.
  • PHI Forward #25
Dominick Barlow (illness) is questionable to play against the Bulls on Friday.
Barlow is expected to suit up after initially being listed as questionable for this game. He missed Tuesday’s game, which allowed Jabari Walker to start in his place. With Barlow expected back, Walker will head back to the bench and lose the limited streaming appeal he had.
  • PHI Guard #5
Quentin Grimes (illness) is probable to play against the Bulls on Friday.
Grimes is expected to suit up after missing Tuesday’s game against Brooklyn. Justin Edwards and Eric Gordon took on larger roles with Grimes unavailable, but they’ll both likely be pushed back out of the rotation with Grimes expected back.
  • PHI Guard #77
VJ Edgecombe (illness) is probable to play against the Bulls on Friday.
Edgecombe is expected to return after missing Tuesday’s game again Brooklyn. Jared McCain started in his stead, but with Edgecombe likely back, he’ll return to the bench. Quentin Grimes (illness) is now probable as well, so McCain will lose most of the streaming value he held.
  • NOP Guard #3
Jordan Poole (ankle) is probable to play against the Suns on Friday.
Poole was initially questionable, but he is now expected to return from a one-game absence. Jordan Hawkins and Micah Peavy took on extra minutes with Poole sidelined, but that won’t continue with Poole likely back to take on Phoenix.
  • DAL Forward-Center #3
ESPN’s Shams Charania reports Anthony Davis is dealing with a minor groin strain and is expected to miss “a few games.”
Charania’s report indicates Dallas is taking a cautious approach, so the injury may not be severe, but they will continue to evaluate him daily. Max Christie started the second half of Thursday’s game in place of Davis, but that was likely a matchup-based decision. Daniel Gafford should start in his place, with Moussa Cisse and Dwight Powell filling out the reserve minutes. Plenty of usage will be up for grabs, but Cooper Flagg will continue to be the priority.
