2026 SuperMotocross Round 24, Spring Creek Motocross Preview: winners, historic results, who to watch

Round 24 of the SuperMotocross World Championship, Round 7 of Pro Motocross, will be contested on one of the most personal tracks the series visits. Owned by the Martin family for nearly its entire history, this has been the proving ground for Alex and Jeremy Martin their entire lives.

Purchased in 1987 by John and Greta Martin after the venue had already hosted four Pro Motocross events, this has been a special place for Jeremy and Alex. Only last year, Jeremy incredibly scored a 250 podium in his final full-time Motocross race.

Eli Tomac crashed in the first moto of the 2026 Pro Motocross season and has not earned any points toward that championship.

All eyes this week are focused on the championship battles, with one point separating Jett Lawrence from Hunter Lawrence in 450s. In the 250 division, Cole Davies has a two-point lead over Levi Kitchen.

This is the second time in five years the premiere division points have been this close at the halfway point. In 2022, Chase Sexton led Eli Tomac by one point.

The red plate was shared between Jeff Emig and Clay Cooper in the 250 class in 1992 and Ryan Villopoto and Ben Townley in 2007. One point separated Doug Henry from Jeremy McGrath in 1993.

As for Tomac, he will be back in action this week after getting injured in the season-opener at Fox Raceway.

Jett and Hunter split the moto wins last week in races the other dominated.

Jett had a big gap on Hunter in Moto 1 and had set the fastest lap before he crashed and relinquished the lead. The opposite was true in Moto 2, with Hunter pulling away from the field and setting its fastest lap before hitting neutral exiting a turn late in the race. He crashed and faded after having the wind knocked from him.

Haiden Deegan continues to improve. He scored his third podium in Southwick in his sixth start on a 450. Starting has been his specialty. According to WeWentFast.com, he is scheduled to make his 90th consecutive SMX League start this weekend. He has never missed a round during the regular season or in the playoffs.

Deegan’s second-place finish last week in Southwick’s Moto 2 was a career best.

250 Notes

Sacha Coenen became the 97th different winner in the support class of Pro Motocross and he did it with a measure grit and determination unseen in recent years. With five minutes remaining on the clock in Moto 2, he crashed hard. He had enough of a cushion over Cole Davies to maintain the lead, but the victory was costly.

Behind the podium after his win, Coenen was overheard to say he believed he broke his collarbone.

The two-points separating Davies and Kitchen is the closest margin in the class since 2020 when Dylan Ferrandis led Jeremy Martin by three.

Max Anstie’s deal with ClubMX will run through the 2028 season.

Davies earned the holeshot in both motos last week, which means he now has four of the last five. His ability to stretch his points’ advantage will most be aided by that ability as Kitchen has gained 59 more positions than he has lost in the first 12 motos of 2026.

Kitchen has also been the most consistent rider in the field. He is the only one to have overall top-fives in all six rounds.

Jo Shimoda secured the red plate last week at RedBud, but will give it up after missing two motos in Southwick.
