It was reported last week that Nabers was missing practice due to a shoulder injury. Now, there’s a back injury that may or may not be related to his shoulder injury. It’s hard to know without an official team injury report. Regardless, Nabers hasn’t practiced in 11 days and seems unlikely to appear in the team’s final preseason game against the Patriots next week. Head coach Brian Daboll declared last week that he’s “not going to get into any injuries,” which he has largely stuck to this offseason. At this point, the best we can do is hope this is a minor issue for Nabers that won’t keep him out for Week 1 when the Giants visit the Commanders, but we may not get any clear insight on his situation until the week leading up to the game. Nabers caught 109 passes for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns last season and profiles as a strong WR1 in half and full-PPR formats.

Rapoport writes that “with contract talks at an impasse,” the Bengals are finally open to dealing the 2024 sack leader. A willingness to deal Hendrickson would have been better for everybody if the Bengals had considered this months ago, but now the four-time Pro Bowler will hope to find a new home and contract with just three weeks to go before the start of the season. Hendrickson has been holding in at Bengals camp since reporting on July 30th, and would likely need some time to ramp up for the start of the season. In theory, he should have several suitors on the market, but a trade could prove difficult given the pick compensation the acquiring team would have to give up, along with the money that would come from giving Hendrickson a new contract.

We’ve finally reached the point where Daboll will be asked on a near-weekly basis who his starting quarterback is until the team inevitably inserts Jaxson Dart as QB1. The question isn’t unwarranted after Dart completed 14-of-16 passes for 137 yards and a touchdown against the Jets on Saturday night, but Wilson was always expected to open the season as the starter, and as of now, those plans haven’t changed. That said, the precision and command Dart showed on Saturday was impressive, and may lead to a changing of the guard that’s a bit sooner than expected. We should still expect Wilson under center in Week 1 when the Giants take on the Commanders.

Johnston drew the start alongside Ladd McConkey but was injured on the team’s second play from scrimmage early in the first quarter. He remained down on the field for a solid 10 minutes before eventually standing under his own power and walking to the cart. He was eventually diagnosed with a concussion after being sent to the hospital as a “precaution.” The third-year player is likely headed for a situational role in 2025 after the team brought back veteran wide receiver Keenan Allen.

Similar to what he did last weekend, Stafford was scheduled to work out before Saturday’s preseason game to test the back injury that has sidelined him throughout training camp. The same spokesperson also said head coach Sean McVay would address the situation on Monday, leaving us to wonder what the next report in this saga could entail. Stafford was unable to practice last week despite plans for him to return to the field on Monday, and now the team is being cagey about his Saturday workout after publicizing it the previous week. It’s worth reminding folks that the Rams decided earlier this week that backup Jimmy Garoppolo would not play in the second preseason game, which may or may not prove meaningful in the coming days. This remains a situation to monitor.

It’s a nondescript soft tissue lower-body injury for the Dolphins’ RB1. McDaniel said Achane could be out between “days and weeks,” to further add to the mystery, making his status one to watch until he officially returns to action. Second-year back Jaylen Wright would be the immediate favorite to replace Achane on most downs, but rookie sixth-rounder Ollie Gordon could also see some work in short-yardage and goal-line situations. The Dolphins kick off the 2025 season in 22 days, which will hopefully prove to be enough time for Achane to get right.

The swift overreaction to his mundane preseason debut a week ago seems silly in retrospect, with his performance today reinforcing his status as a top tier selection in the early rounds of fantasy drafts this season.

This makes the most sense from an organizational level as the team hunts for their starting quarterback for the regular season. Shough was selected in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft but comes into the league as a 25-year-old rookie after a tumultuous collegiate career, having played seven seasons for three different schools. The Saints almost certainly want to see if he can be more than a bridge quarterback in the league considering Spencer Rattler has looked nothing more than a replacement level backup during his short professional career.

Coen said the decision to sit Hunter would be out of precaution, seemingly downplaying whatever upper-body injury the two-way star is dealing with. Hunter played on 11-of-12 offensive snaps with the starters last week, and was expected to see a little more work in his second tune-up as he prepares for his rookie season. The Jaguars don’t play until Sunday, which could give Coen some extra time to consider Hunter’s status for the weekend, but it wouldn’t be too surprising if the team opted not to push things with the season just weeks away.
