Kel’el Ware reportedly headed to Bucks via trade

Kel’el Ware, Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakučionis and multiple draft picks have reportedly been traded to the Bucks for Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis.

After two seasons in Miami, the 15th overall pick in the 2024 draft is reportedly headed to Milwaukee. While Ware did show flashes of the potential that made some confident of his fit alongside Bam Adebayo, the 7-footer’s production was far too inconsistent to protect him from being included in this trade. Ware appeared in 77 games last season, averaging 11.1 points, 9.0 rebounds, 1.1 blocks and 1.2 three-pointers, shooting 53.0 percent from the field and 74.0 percent from the foul line. And he goes from one situation where there’s a veteran center in the starting lineup to another, as Myles Turner currently occupies that role in Milwaukee. While he did provide solid per-game fantasy value last season, Ware’s value for next season is unlikely to receive a significant boost.

Ware put on a show on both ends of the floor in Saturday’s 152-136 victory. The second-year center’s 17 rebounds were the most in a game for him since December 21, when he grabbed 19 in a loss to the Knicks. Also, Ware’s eight blocks are a new career-high. Add in the excellent field-goal percentage and the three-point production, and fantasy managers rostering Ware had to be thrilled with the value received.

Tyler Herro (foot) is probable for Saturday’s game against the Wizards.

Herro is dealing with a sore right foot, but the probable tag suggests that he will be available on Saturday. If he can’t play, Kasparas Jakučionis and Kel’el Ware are potential replacements in the starting lineup. Ware offers a higher streaming ceiling when allowed to start.

Kel’el Ware recorded 14 points (5-of-10 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), eight rebounds, one assist, one steal and two three-pointers in Friday’s loss to the Cavaliers.

Ware was solid in Miami’s two games against the Cavaliers, totaling 27 points, 18 rebounds, five assists, one steal, one blocked shot and five three-pointers. Inconsistency has been an issue for the second-year center, and the recent returns of Norman Powell and Andrew Wiggins limit Ware’s upside, even though they don’t share the same position. Ware can still be an asset during the fantasy playoff weeks, as evidenced by his two games in Cleveland, but most managers know to keep their expectations in check.

Bam Adebayo (calf) is probable for Thursday’s game against the Lakers.

Adebayo is on track to return to action Thursday night after sitting out Tuesday’s loss to the Hornets. With Tyler Herro and Norman Powell available, Kel’el Ware will likely be headed to the bench. Ware should still be rostered in 12-team leagues, but he isn’t as valuable in shallow formats when Miami’s three stars are available.

With Bam Adebayo (calf) sidelined for this game, Powell will return to the starting unit. Powell scored 20 points in 31 minutes off the bench on Saturday and should play a similar role in this game. Ware will shift over to be the primary center.

Adebayo avoided the Heat’s original injury report, but was added Monday night as questionable with right calf tightness and downgraded to doubtful Tuesday afternoon. The 28-year-old’s absence isn’t a surprise at this point. Kel’el Ware should move into the starting lineup and stands to benefit from the most additional usage with Adebayo sidelined.

Jokić has repeatedly said that he plans to spend his entire NBA career in Denver, and nothing has changed in that regard. Following Serbia’s FIBA World Cup qualifying win over Bosnia and Herzegovina, the three-time NBA MVP said he plans to sign his extension next summer. The question now is whether he’ll opt into the final season of his current deal, 2027-28, and then ink an extension, or sign one after declining it. The final year of Jokić’s current deal would pay him just under $63 million if he were to opt in. Simply put, Nuggets fans and fantasy managers have little to worry about regarding the 6-foot-11 center’s NBA future.

He didn’t have his best shooting game against the Spurs, but his ability to influence the action defensively was on display at times. While Walker Kessler will provide the rim protection, he can’t be the only player who provides cover for the Lakers’ subpar perimeter defenders. Thiero isn’t someone to target in redraft leagues, but he is worth tracking this summer for dynasty leagues.

Denver views him as a key player for the franchise’s future, but there is also a significant gap between what Watson wants, reportedly $25 million per year, and what the team is willing to pay. As a result, the Nuggets are reportedly open to a sign-and-trade as they look to avoid going into the second apron. At this point, only the Nets and Clippers have the cap space to provide Watson an offer sheet without needing to negotiate a trade.

His fantasy outlook for 2026-27 is in a bit of a holding pattern for now, as the Warriors are among the teams in the mix for free agent LeBron James. If Golden State strikes out on adding the 41-year-old, Lendeborg’s role will take on added importance during his rookie season.
