Oklahoma City will not have its first-round pick available for the second consecutive season due to a knee injury. Nikola Topić sat out the entire 2024-25 campaign after suffering a torn ACL, and Sorber met the same unfortunate fate during an on-court workout on Thursday. The 6-foot-9 forward/center out of Georgetown did not play during summer league due to a foot injury that ended his lone college season in February. While Sorber’s absence is unlikely to impact his value in redraft leagues due to Oklahoma City’s frontcourt depth, that may not be the case for dynasty leagues.

Thunder selected Thomas Sorber with the 15th overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.

Sorber had a productive freshman season at Georgetown, but a left foot injury in February ended his lone college season prematurely. There are no indications that the foot injury will impact him moving forward, but it did prevent him from participating in parts of the combine. He’s a bit undersized for a center at 6’9”, but his 7’6” wingspan and solid frame will help him battle down low. He averaged 14.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.5 steals and 2.0 blocks per game last season, which is an exciting stat line for fantasy managers. While heading to Oklahoma City likely means Sorber, Georgetown’s first first-round pick since Otto Porter Jr., will be limited from a fantasy standpoint, he’ll get to learn from a talented frontcourt that includes Jalen Williams, Chet Holmgren and Isaiah Hartenstein.

Yahoo! Sports’ Kelly Iko reports that DeMar DeRozan hopes to “accelerate” his departure from Sacramento.

The writing has been on the wall for quite some time that the Kings want to kick-start their rebuild by moving on from a few veteran players. With Zach LaVine opting into the final year of a deal that will pay him over $49 million, it will be easier financially for Sacramento to move on from DeRozan, either via trade or the waive-and-stretch provision. According to Iko’s report, DeRozan expects the latter to happen. Only $10 million of his 2026-27 contract is guaranteed, so spreading that money over three years would not significantly damage the Kings’ finances. DeRozan turns 37 next month, but in the right situation he can still provide solid middle-round value in standard fantasy leagues.

The signing of Bagley gives the Nuggets additional frontcourt depth and could mean that Jonas Valančiūnas’ time in the Mile High City is coming to an end.
