Sergio de Larrea amassed five points (2-of-4 FGs), three rebounds, four assists, two steals, one block and one three-pointer in Saturday’s loss to the Lakers.

After shooting 3-of-14 in his first summer league appearance on Thursday, de Larrea attempted just four shots on Saturday. He did have some nice assists and was once again active defensively in a decent overall showing. Through two games, it’s clear that some patience will be needed, but de Larrea has the basketball smarts needed to make an impact down the line. He is certainly worth stashing in dynasty leagues.

Sergio de Larrea tallied two points (1-of-8 FGs), nine rebounds, 14 assists, one steal and one block in Thursday’s win over the Thunder.

De Larrea did not shoot the ball well on Thursday, missing all five of his three-point attempts, but the rookie’s overall floor game was excellent. Finishing one rebound shy of a double-double, de Larrea also accounted for 14 assists and three turnovers. While a healthy Kyrie Irving will run the show for the Mavericks when next season begins, fantasy managers in redraft leagues should not sleep on the 6-foot-5 de Larrea. A must-draft player in dynasty leagues, he may have some value in redraft formats as well.

Sergio de Larrea accounted for 16 points (3-of-7 FGs, 6-of-6 FTs), one rebound, 12 assists, one block and two three-pointers in Monday’s win over the Grizzlies.

De Larrea had an excellent floor game on Monday after struggling in Saturday’s loss to the Lakers. The rookie guard was responsible for 12 of Dallas’ 25 assists on the night, with the other four Mavericks starters combining for six. With Kyrie Irving expected to be fully healthy when next season begins and Cooper Flagg also in line to have the ball in his hands plenty, de Larrea’s fantasy ceiling may be limited as a rookie. But the basketball IQ makes him someone worth stashing in dynasty leagues.

Sergio de Larrea posted a full line on Thursday with nine points (3-of-14 FGs), six rebounds, five assists, one steal, one block and one three-pointer against the Warriors.

It wasn’t the most efficient shooting performance for de Larrea, but there was a lot to like about what he did in his first summer league action. He flashed upside on both ends of the floor, but he’s clearly a prospect that has a lot of developing to do. He should get that opportunity for Dallas this season and is worth stashing in dynasty formats.

Mavericks selected Sergio de Larrea with the No. 25 pick in the NBA Draft.

A native of Valladolid, Spain, the 6-foot-6 De Larrea helped lead Valencia to the Spanish Supercup this season. One of the top young international players in this draft class, he averaged 7.1 points, 2.0 rebounds and 2.9 assists in just over 14 minutes per game while shooting 45.0 percent from the field, 40.9 percent from three and 81.2 percent from the foul line. De Larrea’s combination of basketball IQ, size and shooting ability makes him one of the most intriguing prospects in this class. New York traded back from 24 to 25 and received cash considerations. De Larrea’s draft rights were eventually acquired by Phoenix, which sent them to Dallas in exchange for the draft rights to No. 30 overall pick Koa Peat. For the transactions, the Knicks received five second-round picks, two from Dallas and three from Phoenix. The question is whether De Larrea comes over immediately or spends another season in Spain, but his chances of playing in the NBA in 2026-27 have improved with the move to Dallas.

According to ESPN’s Baxter Holmes, the NBA’s investigation into the Clippers and Kawhi Leonard could go into 2027.

The Clippers agreed with the Raptors on a trade that would send Leonard back to Toronto in exchange for Brandon Ingram, Gradey Dick and draft compensation. However, due to the investigation into the contract that the Clippers signed Leonard to, that transaction is on hold. And with Wednesday’s report, it’s fair to wonder if the trade will ever get done, as a potential penalty would be to void Leonard’s contract, making him a free agent. Also, Toronto would assume the penalties if they were to acquire Leonard before a ruling was made, hence the decision to delay the trade.

NBA insider Marc Stein reports that the Bulls are one of the teams interested in restricted free agent Bennedict Mathurin.

While Mathurin has yet to find a home after hitting restricted free agency, teams have expressed interest in the former lottery pick. In addition to the Pelicans, the Bulls have reportedly joined the pursuit. While Chicago added Norman Powell in free agency and selected Caleb Wilson in the draft, adding another wing scorer like Mathurin to the mix could give their offense a boost. However, the Bulls would likely need to free up cap space to make an offer that the Clippers would refuse to match to land Mathurin. For most of his NBA career, Mathurin has been a better option for points leagues than category leagues.

ESPN’s Shams Charania reports that the Wizards have been in contact with free agent DeMar DeRozan recently.

In the aftermath of his exit from Sacramento, DeRozan was considered to be a player likely headed to a team with postseason ambitions. Miami, Cleveland and Denver have all expressed interest since the veteran wing hit free agency, and now Washington has reportedly worked its way into the mix. Given the number of young wings on the Wizards’ roster, adding DeRozan would create even more of a logjam, potentially limiting the short-term fantasy potential of a Kyshawn George or Will Riley.

Tony Jones of The Athletic reports that the Nuggets offered restricted free agent Peyton Watson a five-year, $70 million contract.

While it was reported that the Nuggets offered Watson $70 million over four years, another report says the team is willing to put up that amount over five years. The Nuggets are looking to get back under the second apron, hence the figure being offered to Watson. Regardless of the contract’s length, the annual value is a far cry from the $25 million that Watson was reportedly seeking. And with teams that have reportedly expressed interest in signing Watson needing to execute a sign-and-trade to get something done, the Nuggets have leverage. Watson has the option to accept his qualifying offer, which would make him an unrestricted free agent next summer, but that path carries significant risk. If he were to either play poorly or suffer an injury, Watson could stand to lose even more money next summer.

NBA insider Marc Stein reports that the Mavericks and Dereck Lively II have had some “early-stage talks” regarding a contract extension.

While Lively finished sixth in Rookie of the Year voting in 2024 as part of a team that reached the NBA Finals, injuries have been a major issue in his three seasons. The 7-foot-1 center has struggled with right foot injuries, most recently appearing in just seven games last season before undergoing surgery. With Daniel Gafford on the squad and the Mavericks having added Santi Aldama and rookie Morez Johnson Jr., the team has options in the frontcourt. Lively and the Mavericks have until just before the start of the 2026-27 regular season to agree on a new deal. If they can’t, he will be a restricted free agent next summer. Lively can be a productive option for fantasy managers, but the injury concerns may make him someone not worth the risk in standard leagues.

NBA insider Jake Fischer reports that the 76ers have been seeking “trade avenues” to move on from Johni Broome.

Philadelphia’s reported interest in moving on from Broome has more to do with the pending signing of Kentavious Caldwell-Pope than anything else. Just as the team needed to waive Dalen Terry to have the roster spot needed to make the LeBron James signing official, another roster spot is needed to add KCP. Broome, who was limited to 11 NBA appearances last season and missed time with a knee injury, played well during Summer League. Still, the 76ers have Adem Bona and Ariel Hukporti to absorb minutes behind starting center Joel Embiid. In the right situation, Broome could have some streaming value throughout the season. According to Fischer, waiving Jabari Walker is another possibility, but the 76ers hope to hold onto him.

Pistons C Jalen Duren and Nuggets G Peyton Watson are weighing playing next season on the qualifying offer, reports NBA Insider Marc Stein.

By playing under the qualifying offer next season, both Duren and Watson, who are currently restricted free agents, would leave millions on the table to become unrestricted free agents next offseason. Stein reports Denver’s initial contract offers to Watson were believed to be in the four-year, $70 million range. While that offer is certainly less than Watson wants, at least the sides are talking. Duren and the Pistons appear to be at a stalemate as Detroit has no interest in trading him or giving him the max contract he desires. While it’ll be interesting to see how both of these situations ultimately resolve themselves, it remains unlikely that either player will actually resort to accepting the qualifying offer.

The Nuggets’ decision to match the Thunder’s offer sheet comes less than 48 hours after OKC’s initial offer. Jones, who averaged 5.5 points and 3.3 rebounds across 64 games last regular season, should remain a solid piece off Denver’s bench for the 2026-27 campaign. He’s mostly a three-point specialist who can provide some perimeter defense as well during his minutes, but is unlikely to move high enough up Denver’s depth chart to have any fantasy value next season.
