Report: PHI looking for trade partners for Broome

NBA insider Jake Fischer reports that the 76ers have been seeking “trade avenues” to move on from Johni Broome.

Philadelphia’s reported interest in moving on from Broome has more to do with the pending signing of Kentavious Caldwell-Pope than anything else. Just as the team needed to waive Dalen Terry to have the roster spot needed to make the LeBron James signing official, another roster spot is needed to add KCP. Broome, who was limited to 11 NBA appearances last season and missed time with a knee injury, played well during Summer League. Still, the 76ers have Adem Bona and Ariel Hukporti to absorb minutes behind starting center Joel Embiid. In the right situation, Broome could have some streaming value throughout the season. According to Fischer, waiving Jabari Walker is another possibility, but the 76ers hope to hold onto him.
HLs: Tatum leads Celtics past resilient Knicks
The New York Knicks closed the gap against Boston in the second half, but a clutch performance down the stretch by Jayson Tatum and a 36-point day staved off the defending champs for the Celtics' first win of the year.

Darius Garland finished Friday’s loss to the Lakers with 26 points (9-of-19 FGs, 4-of-5 FTs), six assists, one steal and four three-pointers.

The star guards in this matchup all seemed to struggle with turnovers. Garland racked up nine, while the Lakers’ Luka Dončić (11) and Austin Reaves (six) combined for 17. Garland had a solid night shooting the basketball, but nine-cat managers took a hit because of the turnovers. He’ll look to finish Week 1 on a high note when the Clippers visit the Thunder on Sunday.

Brook Lopez tallied 22 points (8-of-9 FGs, 4-of-5 FTs), four rebounds, three blocks and two three-pointers in Friday’s loss to the Lakers.

While Isaiah Jackson (six points, six rebounds, three assists, three steals, and one block in 28 minutes) earned the starting center role, his limited offensive skill set means Clippers head coach Tyronn Lue will continue to factor Lopez into his plans. Against the Lakers, the 7-foot-1 backup scored 15 points on 6-of-6 shooting in the first half on Friday. Lopez’s production tailed off after halftime, but his final line reminded everyone what he can do, even in a backup role.

Donovan Clingan scored 8 points (3-of-5 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), ten rebounds, three assists, and two blocks in 19 minutes against the Kings.

Clingan had some foul trouble in this game and the Blazers went small which resulted in lower minutes for Clingan. He still produced when he was out there, but it was obviously not what you were hoping for. This happened last year at times and there will be more games this year where its in the best of the Blazers to have him on the bench. He’ll have his next opportunity against the Lakers where he will need to play more minutes against Walker Kessler.

Rui Hachimura recorded 16 points (5-of-14 FGs, 3-of-4 FTs), six rebounds, one assist, two steals and three three-pointers in Friday’s loss to the Lakers.

Playing against his former team for the first time since signing with the Clippers in free agency, Hachimura struggled with his shot. He’s started slowly, shooting 8-of-27 from the field in the Clippers’ first two games. Given the team’s lack of reliable scorers, the shot volume will be there. However, it won’t mean much if Hachimura can’t hit shots at a higher clip. He’s a career 49.8 percent shooter, which suggests that Rui will turn things around. But things won’t get any easier, as the Clippers visit the Thunder on Sunday.

Damian Lillard with 19 points (7-of-18 FGs, 3-of-3 FTs), five rebounds, two assists, two steals, a block and two 3-pointers in Blazers win over the Kings.

It wasn’t the most efficient night for Damian Lillard, but he still gave you a good game. As he’s coming back from his Achilles injury, he will have some nights where he is not very efficient, especially early on the season. We weren’t drafting Damian Lillard as high as we have been, so there isn’t much to complain about when there’s the occasional inefficient night.

Matisse Thybulle accounted for 13 points (5-of-8 FGs), one rebound, two assists, two steals, one block and three three-pointers in Friday’s win over the Clippers.

Could Thybulle return to relevance in fantasy basketball with the Lakers? His defense earned the veteran wing a starting spot, and he played well on both ends of the floor in Friday’s win. In addition to his three defensive contributions, Thybulle shot 3-of-6 from beyond the arc. He’s a career 34.9 percent shooter from deep, so managers shouldn’t expect high-level production there. However, the starting role makes Thybulle someone to watch, especially in deep leagues.

Jrue Holiday with 12 points (4-of-10 FGs, 1-of-2 FTs), two rebounds, eight assists, a steal, a block and three 3-pointers on Friday against the Kings.

Jrue played 26 minutes in this game and played very well despite not having the stat line that would reflect how good he was. The Blazers went small and Jrue kept coming up big. While his fantasy upside is capped with Ja Morant and Damian Lillard back on the team, he should still be able to do bits and pieces to remain relevant in most fantasy redraft leagues.

Walker Kessler finished Friday’s win over the Clippers with 22 points (10-of-14 FGs, 2-of-5 FTs), eight rebounds, three assists, three steals and six blocked shots.

Nights like Friday are what fantasy managers hoped for when Kessler made the move to Los Angeles in free agency. He dominated the Clippers, shooting efficiently and recording nine “stocks.” Kessler isn’t a great foul shooter, but fantasy managers usually punt that category when rostering him. He’ll look to finish Week 1 on a high note when the Lakers visit the Jazz, Kessler’s former team, on Sunday.

Victor Wembanyama had 25 points (9-of-21 FGs, 5-of-8 FTs), 13 rebounds, two assists, two blocks and two three-pointers against the Rockets on Friday.

Wembanyama bounced back nicely after going 1-of-13 with 12 points in Tuesday’s loss to the Thunder. The 22-year-old center had 25 points on 9-of-21 shooting, but the Spurs lost again. Amen Thompson blocked Wemby’s shot at point blank range in the final seconds to seal the win for the Rockets. Wembanyama and the Spurs will look to get in the win column against the Mavericks on Saturday.

Deni Avdija got 26 points (8-of-16 FGs, 9-of-12 FTs), six rebounds, six assists, a steal and a three in 39 minutes against the Kings.

He had a very prototypical Deni Avdija game. He got you a lot of points, good rebounds, good assists, and a lot of free throw attempts. You would wish he shot better than 75%, but its hard to be too critical after a performance like this. The additions of Ja Morant and Damian Lilliard have not impacted his production that much up to this point which is a relief for owners of Deni in fantasy.
