Shams: Ryan Nembhard inks two-way deal with Denver

ESPN’s Shams Charania reports that Ryan Nembhard has signed a two-way deal with the Denver Nuggets.

The second-year man was waived by the Hornets less than a week ago, and it didn’t take long for him to find a new team. With LaMelo Ball playing in Minnesota and Kon Knueppel (hamstring) banged up, more minutes could be up for grabs in Charlotte’s backcourt, but it will be tough for Nembhard to see enough court time to be fantasy relevant.

Jakob Poeltl had 12 points (5-of-10 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), eleven rebounds, three assists, a steal in 23 minutes against the Magic.

Poeltl has overall been very underwhelming this season, but he had a very good performance tonight against the Magic. While Poeltl is on the decline, he can still put up numbers at times. The Raptors continue to start him which shows a vote of confidence in him. He’s worth a stream if you need rebounds, but he’s not worth an add in most redraft formats.

Immanuel Quickley scored 17 points (6-of-14 FGs, 1-of-2 FTs), six rebounds, eight assists, and four 3-pointers in loss to Magic.

Quickley hasn’t been the most efficient in the start of his season, but other than that, he’s been exactly what you would’ve expected. With no Kawhi Leonard, Quickley will need to step up and be more of a scorer. He’s one of the best shooters on the team and he will very important to the team and that was shown by his contract.

Scottie Barnes with a career high 41 points (19-of-34 FGs, 2-of-3 FTs), five rebounds, five assists, two steals, and a three in the 121-114 loss to the Magic.

Scottie Barnes was carrying the offense in the first half for the Raptors with 23 first half points. No one else on the team which helped Scottie’s value, but it didn’t exactly help the Raptors as the Magic got revenge on this one. Scottie has been an absolute monster this season will continue to put up crazy performances with and without Kawhi Leonard playing.

Paul George finished Friday’s win over the Bulls with 18 points (7-of-15 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), six rebounds, eight assists, three steals and two three-pointers in Friday’s win over the Celtics.

While relatively quiet scoring-wise, George added value in other ways in the Celtics’ 14-point victory. The eight assists were a season high, and he’s up to 12 steals through five games. Given the amount of time George missed during his two seasons in Philadelphia, there’s still some lingering concern about his availability. But he’s looked pretty comfortable in Boston through the Celtics’ first five games.

Michael Porter Jr. put up 13 points (4-of-9 FGs, 3-of-3 FTs), seven rebounds, an assist, a block, and two 3-pointers on Friday.

It was a typical Michael Porter Jr game where he got you points, rebounds, and not much else. He has gotten you some good steal numbers to start the year, but it’s not likely that it’s going to stick. The Nets struggled to score in this game, especially in the third quarter. You would want more than 9 shot attempts but it was just a bad game for the Brooklyn.

Jayson Tatum amassed 26 points (9-of-20 FGs, 6-of-8 FTs), seven rebounds, seven assists and two three-pointers in Friday’s win over the Bulls.

Tatum has scored 23 points or more in each of his last four games, rebounding well after a quiet outing in Boston’s season opener. Against the Bulls, he scored 16 of his 26 points in the first half, shooting 7-of-11 from the field. Tatum cooled off after halftime, but it didn’t matter much as Boston had already built up a large lead. He’ll look to finish the week on a high when the Celtics face the Magic on Sunday.

Mo Wagner scored 16 points (7-of-10 FGs, 1-of-1 FTs), eight rebounds, an assist, a steal, and a three pointer in 23 minutes.

Wagner has long been a per minute monster and this has been his best game of the season. He’s gotten more comfortable in the Nets system and his minutes have started to increase over the past few games. In redraft leagues, he is worth a stream if you need some rebounds, but his ceiling is capped by Day’Ron Sharpe. It would require an injury for his role to increase.

Payton Pritchard accumulated 30 points (9-of-17 FGs, 9-of-9 FTs), three rebounds, three assists, two steals and three three-pointers in Friday’s win over the Bulls.

Given his performance in Boston’s two comfortable wins over the Bulls this week, Pritchard clearly enjoys playing against them. After putting up 28 points on Monday, the Celtics guard came off the bench to record his first 30-point game of the season. Over five games, Pritchard has been inconsistent scoring-wise, alternating between double- and single-digit outputs. He’ll look to buck that trend when the Celtics face the Magic on Sunday.

Julius Randle had 15 points (4-of-13 FGs, 4-of-4 FTs), eight rebounds, three assists, three 3-pointers, and five turnovers in 110-94 loss to Pistons.

Randle will have these inefficient games while stuffing the stat sheet in other areas including the turnovers. It’s part of the deal when you have Randle. His role isn’t going anywhere and his next opportunity to bounce back will be on Sunday against the Pacers.

Jalen Smith tallied five points (2-of-8 FGs, 1-of-2 FTs), 12 rebounds, one assist and two blocked shots.

Smith had a rough night shooting the basketball, missing all five of his three-point attempts. Still, fantasy managers had something to work with, as the Bulls center hit double digits in rebounds for the third time in six games and blocked two shots. Even with Smith’s offensive struggles against the Celtics, he needs to be rostered, especially while the Bulls await Nic Claxton’s return from a strained hamstring.
