LeBron James accounted for 10 points (1-of-1 FGs, 8-of-8 FTs), four rebounds, five assists and one steal in Thursday’s exhibition against the Nets.

After sitting out the 76ers’ preseason opener on Monday, James made his unofficial debut for the team on Thursday. Though he had only one official field-goal attempt, the 41-year-old forward made 8-of-8 from the foul line. LeBron took on primary playmaking duties against the Nets, and the team will ask him to do the same during the regular season. He may also serve as a small-ball center at times because Philadelphia lacks depth behind Joel Embiid.
In prolific rookie race, Boozer is most NBA-ready
In what profiles to be a prolific rookie of the year race, Chris Mannix and Grant Liffmann unpack their ladder, highlighting Cam Boozer as the most "NBA-ready" player and a case for an end-of-lottery pick.

Per usual, the NBA will have its brightest stars playing on Christmas Day. The NBA Finals rematch will start the day at 12 p.m. ET and will be followed by Heat-Celtics, 76ers-Lakers, Thunder-Timberwolves and Nuggets-Warriors. Aside from the team and player rivalries that will add to the drama, this will also be LeBron James’ return to Los Angeles after spending the last eight seasons as a Laker.
  • PHI Forward #23
While Tyrese Maxey will continue to take on a prominent playmaking role for the 76ers, LeBron’s arrival gives the team another option to trust in that regard. “He is an offense creator,” Nurse said, according to NBC Sports Philadelphia. “He is certainly a guy that will bring the ball up the floor and try to create for himself and others. He is really good for others.” After averaging at least eight assists each of the prior two seasons, James’ average dipped slightly to 7.2 per game in 2025-26. With the offensive weapons in Philadelphia’s starting lineup, he could experience an increase in that category next season, which should help his fantasy value.
  • The report comes after LeBron James’ decision to sign with the 76ers as a free agent. With Caldwell-Pope potentially heading to Philadelphia after being bought out of Memphis, he’d team up with James, with whom he won an NBA championship back in 2020. The 13-year veteran averaged 8.4 points and shot just 31.6 percent from beyond the arc last season in Memphis.
  • PHI Forward #23
The LeBron James free agency saga has reached its conclusion, with the future Hall of Fame forward reportedly picking Philadelphia as his new home. Despite being 41 years old, James still has plenty left in the tank, as evidenced by his 2025-26 season with the Lakers. Appearing in 60 games, he averaged 20.9 points, 6.7 rebounds, 7.2 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.3 three-pointers while shooting 51.5 percent from the field and 73.7 percent from the foul line. While James’ streak of All-NBA selections ended due to his not appearing in 65 games, the production remained good enough for him to offer reliable fantasy value. While his fantasy ceiling takes a hit with the move to Philadelphia, LeBron’s floor should be fine, with the occasional spike when factoring in Joel Embiid’s injury history.
  • PHX Head Coach
Vogel was last an NBA head coach in 2023 with the Suns, who fired him after just one season. His previous stop is perhaps more relevant here as he coached the Lakers and won a championship with LeBron James in 2020. With James reportedly considering joining the Warriors in free agency this offseason, Vogel joining Golden State’s coaching staff is notable, though nothing is guaranteed. Vogel has also coached the Magic and the Pacers.
  • Westbrook, 37, is an obvious fit for the Heat in the wake of the trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo. He still has something left in the tank and would come cheap, which is a necessity for Miami at this point. Of course, Westbrook is out of the picture if LeBron decides to join Giannis in Miami. James is yet to make a decision in free agency and is reportedly also considering Cleveland, Golden State and Philadelphia.
  • LAL Forward #23
One day removed from informing the Lakers of his decision to move on, James has received interest from multiple teams in free agency. Golden State, Cleveland and Miami have been mentioned in various reports, and now Philadelphia has reportedly thrown its hat into the ring. The 76ers made a major move on Wednesday, acquiring Jaylen Brown from the Celtics for Paul George, two first-round picks and two second-round picks. On paper, Philadelphia’s current roster has the look of a contender in the East, even without James. Adding LeBron to the mix would round out their starting lineup, pushing Dominick Barlow to the bench after he started for most of the 2025-26 campaign.
  • LAL Forward #23
James, who turns 42 in December, will play his 24th season in the NBA. However, it is not known which team he’ll suit up for. According to agent Rich Paul, the future Hall of Fame forward has informed the Lakers that he will not be re-signing with the team. Given the amount of money now tied up in Luka Dončić and Austin Reaves, James’ decision is surprising but not a seismic shock. In recent days, the Warriors have been rumored as a potential destination, with Draymond Green opting out of the final year of his deal to free up additional money for the franchise to make moves. While Dončić was already one of the first players to be selected in fantasy drafts, James’ exit raises Reaves’ ceiling in 2026-27.
  • LAL Forward #23
James, who turns 42 in December, is an unrestricted free agent. And for the first time in his NBA career, he is not viewed as the priority signing going into free agency. The Lakers have prioritized building around Luka Dončić, including a desire to re-sign free-agent guard Austin Reaves. Given what Reaves’ price tag is expected to be, LeBron may have to take a significant pay cut to return to the Lakers. Agent Rich Paul said during a media appearance on Friday that “10-12 teams” have reached out to him regarding James, so he’ll have options in free agency. While James can still be a highly effective option for fantasy managers, his age has lowered the ceiling for 2026-27.
  • LAL Forward #23
James’ final game of the season was a solid one when simply glancing at the counting stats. He was one of the Lakers’ three best scorers on the evening, and he led the team in rebounds along the way before finishing his 23rd season with a double-double. James missed the first chunk of the season due to injury but eventually returned to log 60 regular-season games. His numbers declined from the 2024-25 season, and the accomplished veteran also saw a drop in fantasy production. James enters the offseason as an NBA free agent. Where he ends up next season could determine his fantasy outlook.

Payton Pritchard tallied seven points (3-of-11 FGs), three rebounds, 11 assists and one three-pointer in Wednesday’s exhibition against the Hornets.

Pritchard, who signed a two-year, $44.2 million extension on Tuesday, racked up a game-high 11 assists on Wednesday. He’s coming off his most productive season to date, posting career-best averages in points, rebounds, and assists. Pritchard finished last season as a top-100 player in 12-team formats, and fantasy managers can reasonably expect similar production in 2026-27.

Mitchell Robinson amassed 12 points (5-of-5 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), seven rebounds, one assist and three blocks in Wednesday’s exhibition against the Hornets.

After coming off the bench in his first preseason appearances as a Celtic, Robinson started on Wednesday. The 7-footer had an excellent night, not missing a shot from the field or the foul line while also blocking three shots. Neemias Queta (16 points, one rebound and one assist) still played more, logging 24 minutes to Robinson’s 17. At times, the two shared the court in a big lineup, with Queta sliding up to power forward. As long as he’s available, Robinson should get the minutes needed to provide late-round value, especially for managers punting free-throw percentage.

Derrick White tallied 17 points (6-of-9 FGs, 4-of-4 FTs), three rebounds, two assists, four steals and one three-pointer in Wednesday’s exhibition against the Hornets.

White is coming off his worst season in field-goal percentage, making just 39.4 percent of his attempts. However, he still provided top-50 fantasy value because of everything else he does to help the Celtics win. Fantasy managers should expect White to bounce back with his shooting while still offering reliable fantasy value across the board. His ceiling may be somewhat limited, but his fantasy floor is strong and reliable.

Jayson Tatum finished Wednesday’s exhibition against the Hornets with 19 points (8-of-17 FGs), eight rebounds, six assists, two steals and three three-pointers.

The Celtics have one more preseason game, Friday night in Philadelphia, and Tatum’s Wednesday workload could mean he sits that one out. He played 29 minutes against Charlotte and led all scorers with 19 points. Tatum also recorded six assists, and Payton Pritchard was the only Celtic with more. Tatum has a first-round ADP in Yahoo drafts, and with good reason. As long as he stays healthy, JT should be an elite fantasy option in any league format.

Moussa Cisse (ankle) will not return against Pelicans on Wednesday.

Marc Stein also reported that the Mavericks don’t believe the ankle injury is serious, but they’re being cautious and he will not be returning to the game. Even if healthy, Cisse isn’t likely to be a fantasy contributor this season unless there’s injuries to Daniel Gafford and Dereck Lively.

Luke Kennard (knee) will not return to Wednesday’s exhibition against the Spurs.

Kennard landed awkwardly after attempting a runner during the second quarter of Wednesday’s game. The veteran wing, who started because the Suns sat their expected starters, immediately walked back to the locker room and has since been ruled out. When available, Kennard can provide solid three-point value in deeper leagues, even though he’ll be used in a reserve role.

Bucks head coach Taylor Jenkins said on Wednesday that Nate Ament (ankle) is progressing in his recovery and is expected to be available for the team’s season opener.

Ament, the 13th overall pick in June’s draft, sprained his left ankle during the Bucks’ October 7 exhibition against the Thunder. He’s missed out on valuable game reps, but the rookie is making good progress in his recovery. Ament is expected to be back in time for the Bucks’ season opener on October 21 against the Wizards. While he’s a must-roster player in dynasty leagues, Ament should not be rostered in most redraft leagues.

Otega Oweh (Achilles) will miss the entire 2026-2027 season after tearing his Achilles tendon on Tuesday against the Pacers.

The hope was that this wasn’t the case after the injury happened on Tuesday, but it was unfortunately so. Otega had surgery Wednesday on his ruptured right Achilles tendon. He was known as a driver in college with an NBA body. Considering he is a player who is physical and very athletic, the hope is that it doesn’t impact his athleticism when he gets back on the court. Otega wasn’t likely to impact redraft leagues this season, but its a bummer for those holding in dynasty.

Mikel Brown Jr. will be active on Wednesday in the Nets exhibition against the Heat.

The Brooklyn Nets are keeping the same starting lineup as last game with Mikel coming off the bench. This will provide him an opportunity to ramp up into regular season form.

The Suns are starting Jamaree Bouyea, Luke Kennard, Ryan Dunn, Haywood Highsmith, and Khaman Maluach in Wednesday’s Exhibition against the Spurs.

The Suns are replacing Jalen Green and Dillon Brooks with Jamaree Bouyea and Haywood Highsmith from last Saturday’s exhibition. Jordan Goodwin will come off the bench as well.
