Kyshawn George scores team-high 21 points

Kyshawn George accumulated 21 points (6-of-7 FGs, 6-of-7 FTs), one rebound, four assists, three steals and three three-pointers in Monday’s exhibition against the Nets.

Fantasy-wise, George has been Washington’s most valuable young wing over the last two seasons. That shouldn’t change in 2026-27, as he’s expected to start alongside Trae Young and AJ Dybantsa on the perimeter. George shot the ball well on Monday night, and playing alongside a playmaker like Young should raise his fantasy ceiling in 2026-27.
In prolific rookie race, Boozer is most NBA-ready
In what profiles to be a prolific rookie of the year race, Chris Mannix and Grant Liffmann unpack their ladder, highlighting Cam Boozer as the most "NBA-ready" player and a case for an end-of-lottery pick.

In the aftermath of his exit from Sacramento, DeRozan was considered to be a player likely headed to a team with postseason ambitions. Miami, Cleveland and Denver have all expressed interest since the veteran wing hit free agency, and now Washington has reportedly worked its way into the mix. Given the number of young wings on the Wizards’ roster, adding DeRozan would create even more of a logjam, potentially limiting the short-term fantasy potential of a Kyshawn George or Will Riley.
  • WAS Guard-Forward
Dybantsa entered the 2025-26 season as one of the top prospects in this draft class, and his lone season at BYU did no harm to that status. The 6-foot-9 wing averaged 25.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.4 three-pointers last season, earning consensus first-team All-America honors. Dybantsa shot 51.0 percent from the field, 33.1 percent from three and 77.4 percent from the foul line. An excellent athlete who can score on all three levels and provide some playmaking, Dybantsa needs to become a more consistent three-point shooter. That said, he projects to be a franchise cornerstone for years to come. He’ll join a core in Washington that features young studs Alex Sarr, Tre Johnson and Kyshawn George, as well as veteran stars Trae Young and Anthony Davis. Dybantsa should start from day one and be a strong scoring option.
  • WAS Forward #18
George has missed 16 game since suffering a Grade 2 UCL tear in his left elbow on March 2, so the Wizards’ announcement that he’s officially out for the rest of the season isn’t a surprise. The 22-year-old forward is expected to make a full recovery ahead of the 2026-27 season.
  • WAS Forward #18
George has a Grade 2 distal UCL tear in his left elbow and will be treated “conservatively,” according to the team. The 22-year-old forward will be re-evaluated in one week. It’s up in the air whether George will return before the end of the season at this point.
  • WAS Forward #18
George injured his left elbow during Monday’s loss to the Rockets, and he was initially diagnosed with a sprain. Further evaluations revealed a partially torn UCL, and the second-year wing will be re-evaluated in three weeks. While there is a chance that George returns for the final week of the fantasy season in standard Yahoo! leagues, he would likely be under a minutes limit if so. For those who held off on adding Will Riley, now is the time to do so.
  • WAS Forward #18
George will miss a second straight game after spraining his left elbow during Monday’s loss to the Rockets. Will Riley replaced him in the lineup for Tuesday’s loss to the Magic and is likely to retain that role. Riley should be rostered in 14-team leagues given his silly-season potential.
  • WAS Forward #18
George sustained the elbow injury in the third quarter of Monday’s loss to Houston, and it will cost him at least one game. With both George and Watkins out of action, the Wizards will need to lean more heavily on Will Riley and Justin Champagnie.
  • WAS Forward #18
George was limited to 22 minutes on Monday due to a sprained left elbow. Injured during the third quarter after getting caught up on a screen, the second-year wing did not return for the final frame. With the Wizards visiting the Magic on Tuesday, there’s a good chance that George doesn’t play. If he sits, Will Riley (7/2/1/3 with one three-pointer in 33 minutes) is the most likely replacement in the starting lineup.
  • WAS Forward #18
George sat out Thursday against Atlanta but logged 15 minutes in Saturday’s loss to the Raptors. He’ll likely be on a minutes restriction against Houston, and Will Riley should continue to see big minutes. Fantasy managers looking for help off the waiver wire can take a chance on Riley.
  • WAS Forward #18
George’s left knee contusion kept him out of Thursday’s loss to the Hawks, but he returned on Saturday and logged 15 minutes against the Raptors. If he’s able to play on Monday, fantasy managers should expect George’s minutes to be restricted. That would boost Will Riley’s value, as the rookie played 35 minutes off the bench against Toronto.

Trevon Brazile amassed 22 points (8-of-10 FGs, 3-of-5 FTs), two rebounds, one steal, one block and three three-pointers in Wednesday’s exhibition against the Clippers.

The 35th overall pick in this past summer’s draft, Brazile had his most productive night of the preseason on Wednesday. The 6-foot-10 forward/center shot 80 percent from the field, and his final line lacked only an assist. Based on playing time, Brazile has already leapfrogged former first-round picks Zeke Nnaji and DaRon Holmes II in the frontcourt pecking order. He may not get the minutes needed to impact fantasy basketball once the regular season begins, but Brazile needs to be rostered in dynasty leagues.

Julian Strawther (knee) finished Wednesday’s exhibition against the Clippers with 11 points (4-of-9 FGs), two rebounds and three three-pointers.

Strawther was injured in the third quarter of Wednesday’s game when he fell awkwardly, landing with his left leg beneath him after being trapped by two Clippers defenders. Following the game, Nuggets head coach David Adelman said that Strawther will undergo an MRI on Thursday. If he misses time, the Nuggets will rely even more on DeMar DeRozan (who did not play on Wednesday) off the bench.

Jamal Murray accounted for 14 points (6-of-8 FGs), four rebounds, one assist and two three-pointers in Wednesday’s exhibition against the Clippers.

Murray and the other Nuggets starters were shut down at halftime of Wednesday’s game, their penultimate preseason contest. He looked sharp, shooting 75 percent from the field overall. No matter how much Murray plays in Friday’s finale against the Lakers, his fantasy outlook won’t change much. He’s worth a second-round pick in 12-team formats.

Rui Hachimura amassed 16 points (5-of-12 FGs, 3-of-3 FTs), five rebounds, one assist, two steals and three three-pointers in Wednesday’s exhibition against the Nuggets.

Whether with the Wizards or the Lakers, Hachimura never seemed consistently reliable in fantasy leagues. That may change with the Clippers, especially with Brandon Ingram recovering from a partially ruptured Achilles tendon. The scoring will need to come from somewhere, and Hachimura may be the team’s best currently healthy option outside of Darius Garland. The late-round ADP in Yahoo leagues is fair, with fantasy managers hoping that Rui starts the regular season off strong.

Keaton Wagler tallied 12 points (4-of-9 FGs, 1-of-2 FTs), five rebounds, four assists and three three-pointers in Wednesday’s exhibition against the Nuggets.

Wagler started Wednesday’s preseason finale and played 28 minutes. Even with Kris Dunn expected to be ready for the start of the regular season, injuries to Brandon Ingram, Bradley Beal and Max Strus mean that the lottery pick out of Illinois should play regular minutes immediately. Wagler may not be the most reliable option in redraft leagues, but he will be highly valuable in dynasty leagues.

Isaiah Jackson accounted for nine points (4-of-8 FGs), five rebounds, three assists, one steal and one three-pointer in Wednesday’s exhibition against the Nuggets.

Wednesday’s game was the Clippers’ last preseason game, so it’s fair to question how much of a “dress rehearsal” it was for Tyronn Lue’s team. Jackson started again and played 26 minutes, while veteran Brook Lopez (nine points, two rebounds, one assist and one three-pointer) logged eight minutes off the bench. If Jackson can lock down the starting job, his upside would make him worthy of late-round consideration in drafts. And even if he doesn’t start, the Clippers will be light on centers until Yanic Konan Niederhäuser is cleared to return from the foot injury that ended his 2025-26 season in March.

Kam Jones tallied 23 points (9-of-14 FGs, 3-of-5 FTs), four rebounds, one assist, one steal and two three-pointers in Wednesday’s exhibition against the Bulls.

Jones, a former Marquette basketball star, returned to Milwaukee on a two-way deal in July. With numerous rotation players sitting, Jones went off against the Bulls, scoring 23 points on a high field-goal percentage. This changes nothing about his outlook in redraft leagues; there’s no need to draft or roster him. However, managers in deep dynasty leagues can afford to hold onto Jones a bit longer.

Brayden Burries posted 19 points (5-of-12 FGs, 8-of-8 FTs), five rebounds, five assists, four steals and one three-pointer in Wednesday’s exhibition against the Bulls.

Burries made his first start of the preseason on Wednesday. He struggled from deep, making one of six attempts, but a perfect night at the foul line boosted the rookie’s point total. With the number of guards on the Bucks’ roster, Burries may struggle to get rotation minutes early on. However, the franchise is invested in him, which likely means more playing time in the second half of the season if Milwaukee isn’t in contention for a postseason spot.

Kel’el Ware finished Wednesday’s exhibition against the Bulls with five points (2-of-9 FGs, 1-of-2 FTs), five rebounds, one assist and two blocked shots.

Despite Myles Turner not playing, Ware still came off the bench on Wednesday while Jericho Sims (three points, eight rebounds, two assists and one blocked shot) started. As he showed last season, Ware doesn’t need to start to provide quality fantasy value. However, it’s fair to wonder whether his playing time will increase after averaging 22.2 minutes per game in his first two NBA seasons.

Ousmane Dieng recorded 10 points (4-of-12 FGs), 11 rebounds, four assists, one block and two three-pointers in Wednesday’s exhibition against the Bulls.

Dieng was one of the Bucks whose role expanded considerably on Wednesday as multiple key players sat out. He capitalized on the opportunity, recording a double-double in 27 minutes. However, Dieng also committed four turnovers. Dieng showed flashes of solid fantasy value last season, but that was under a different head coach and on an injury-depleted roster. He’s worth rostering in dynasty leagues, but Dieng isn’t worth the risk in redraft leagues.
