Ja Morant came off the bench on Tuesday and finished with 14 points (4-of-6 FGs, 6-of-9 FTs), two rebounds, six assists and one steal against the Kings.

Trail Blazers head coach Micah Nori has been toying with the starting lineup in the preseason, with Damian Lillard and Scoot Henderson starting in this game, while Morant and Jrue Holiday came off the bench. Morant was still productive, and it’s clear the four guards will all have a significant role. Morant and Holiday will reportedly start in their next preseason game, and the starting unit for opening night still hasn’t been decided.

Morant had a good night shooting the basketball, making 80 percent of his attempts and all three of his three-pointers. He finished with more turnovers (four) than assists (three), but fantasy managers likely know Morant will have some high-turnover nights. More importantly, he stays healthy, as the athletic point guard has had at least one extended absence throughout his career. Availability and efficiency concerns have hurt Morant’s ADP, as he’ll be more valuable to managers willing to punt turnovers.
  • POR Guard #1
Making his unofficial Trail Blazers debut, Morant logged 19 minutes and recorded five assists. By comparison, the other four starters combined for six helpers. He didn’t score much, but that shouldn’t concern fantasy managers. The concern is Morant’s availability, as managers should assume at least one extended injury absence. After appearing in at least 61 games in three of his first four seasons, Morant has played 79 games over the last three. That concern knocks him down most draft boards, regardless of league format.
  • The details from the reported six-team trade are still unfolding, but what’s already known is that Russell is heading to Memphis. The veteran guard had a tough 2025-26 season, playing just 26 total games with the Mavericks before being traded to the Wizards and never logging a minute for Washington. He’ll likely have a chance to play decent minutes for a Grizzlies team that recently traded away its superstar point guard, Ja Morant. If so, Russell could have some value in fantasy leagues this upcoming season.

The second overall pick in the 2019 draft, Morant’s time in Memphis has come to an end. While there were certainly high points, most notably his winning Rookie of the Year in 2020 and making two All-Star teams, the inability to stay healthy and off-court issues ultimately led the Grizzlies to seek a way to move on. Morant appeared in 20 games last season, averaging 19.5 points, 3.3 rebounds, 8.1 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.0 three-pointers. With the Trail Blazers having Damian Lillard and Jrue Holiday on the roster, it’s fair to wonder if this will be Morant’s final destination. He’ll likely need a move to a third team to protect his fantasy ceiling in 2026-27.
  • MEM Guard #12
Appearing on ESPN Radio, Windhorst described Morant as “flagrantly available” in trade talks. The Grizzlies are determined to move Morant, who Windhorst says he can’t see playing for the organization again. Memphis has had difficulty finding a trade partner at the moment due to the two seasons left on Morant’s contract, which is viewed as a negative. At this point, the Grizzlies will likely have to take on a bad contract to move Morant.
  • MEM Guard #12
Morant received a PRP injection to help with his recovery and is expected to make a fill recovery ahead of next season. He hasn’t played since Jan. 21, so this update isn’t surprising. Ty Jerome, Cam Spencer, Walter Clayton Jr. and Javon Small will continue to fill out the point guard minutes for the rest of the year.
  • MEM Guard #12
This has Morant being re-evaluated around March 19, which means he will miss at least two months with this injury. There is a chance he returns shortly after, but this could be nearing the end of the fantasy playoffs in many leagues. Memphis still has plenty of depth at point guard, with Ty Jerome, Scotty Pippen Jr., Cam Spencer and Walter Clayton Jr. also playing large roles with Morant out.
  • MEM Guard #12
Morant last appeared in a game on January 21, and the Grizzlies announced on Wednesday that he will be out at least two more weeks before being re-evaluated. The point guard is still dealing with discomfort in his left elbow, which is why he needs more rehab time. With Morant down, the Grizzlies will continue to rely on Ty Jerome, Scotty Pippen Jr. and Cam Spencer to handle the playmaking responsibilities. Jerome offers the highest fantasy ceiling of the three.

Spencer didn’t bring much to the table as a scorer on Monday, but he had the most productive night of his NBA career in the assist category. The second-year guard’s 14 assists were a career-high, and he committed just three turnovers. Spencer isn’t going to offer the scoring that Ja Morant brings to the table, but he is worth rostering as long as the Grizzlies’ starting point guard is out. Rostered in 30 percent of Yahoo! leagues, Spencer has been a seventh-round player over the past two weeks.

Morant suffered a UCL sprain in his left (non-shooting) elbow during Wednesday’s loss to the Hawks. The injury is expected to sideline the 26-year-old point guard for at least the next three weeks, at which point he’ll be reevaluated. Cam Spencer started in Morant’s place Friday and had 21 points and 11 assists, making him a legitimate fantasy option while Morant is out.

Micah Potter (illness) is questionable to play against the Suns on Wednesday.

Potter is a depth center for Portland. If he’s unavailable, Yang Hansen will be the clear third center option behind Donovan Clingan and Robert Williams III, though the latter two will split most of the center minutes.

Malik Monk (ankle) is questionable to play against the Clippers on Wednesday.

Monk is managing a left ankle injury, but if he suits up, he should see plenty of time as the backup point guard. If he isn’t able to suit up, rookie Emanuel Sharp could end up taking on a larger role off the bench, though he won’t be worth streaming in.

Deni Avdija (ankle) is questionable to play against the Suns on Wednesday.

Avdija looked good during the preseason, but there is a chance he is sidelined for Portland’s regular season opener. Portland’s thin on the wing, with Vít Krejčí next in line on the depth chart. It’s possible the Trail Blazers use three guards in the starting unit instead of starting Krejčí, which would likely mean Damian Lillard, Ja Morant and Jrue Holiday all start.

Javonte Green provided a boost off the bench with 19 points (5-of-10 FGs), four rebounds and five three-pointers against the Celtics on Tuesday.

Green didn’t see the floor in the first half, and Detroit entered the break down 13 points. They trailed by 22 points in the third quarter, but Green was able to spark a comeback. He contributed 11 points in the third quarter and eight more in the fourth to help the Pistons start the season 1-0. He’s an excellent depth piece for them, but he likely won’t replicate this level of production often.

Duncan Robinson lit up the Celtics with 21 points (5-of-10 FGs), two rebounds, two assists, one steal and five three-pointers on Tuesday.

Despite some early foul trouble, Robinson was able to together an excellent second half. He scored 18 of his 21 points after the break, including 15 in the fourth quarter to complete the comeback. Robinson won’t contribute much outside of three-pointers with any consistency, but when he gets hot, he can certainly pour in the buckets, just like he did in this game.

Ausar Thompson recorded a double-double on Tuesday with 11 points (4-of-8 FGs), 11 rebounds, five assists and one steal against the Celtics.

Thompson made his presence felt on the defensive end, which contributed to Jayson Tatum only shooting 6-of-23 from the floor. That didn’t lead to many defensive stats, but those will come with time. However, Thompson was able to lead both teams in rebounding and was a solid secondary playmaker for them. It likely won’t last, but he did also make all three of his free throws after shooting 57.1 percent from the line last year. The most encouraging aspect of his stat line may have been that he played 33 minutes, which is way more than his 26.0 minutes per game last season.

John Collins made his debut on Tuesday and finished with six points (3-of-7 FGs), five rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block against the Celtics.

Suiting up for the Pistons for the first time, Collins wasn’t able to contribute much for fantasy managers. He should continue to start, and he did spend some time at center, which is encouraging for his value. He should be more productive moving forward than he was in his 25 minutes in this game.

Jalen Duren led the Pistons with 22 points (8-of-13 FGs), nine rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block in a 121-113 win over the Celtics on Tuesday.

Following a drama-filled offseason, Duren finally got a new contract and immediately had a monster preseason game and a monster regular season debut. He matched Cade Cunningham as the leading scorer for Detroit and fell one rebound shy of recording a double-double. Duren was drafted at the end of the third round and should be able to return that level of value. It’s clear that whatever issues there may have been during contract negotiations won’t impact his play on the floor.

Jayson Tatum recorded a double-double on Tuesday with 13 points (6-of-23 FGs), four rebounds and 11 assists against the Pistons.

Tatum had a decent first half and entered the break with 11 points. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to replicate any of that success after halftime. He shot 1-of-10 from the floor in the second half, which wasn’t enough for Boston to hold onto the big lead they took in the third quarter. It was a rough start to the year for him, though he was the primary playmaker for them. If he can continue to dish out the dimes like he did in this game, he could be in for a strong season, especially once the shooting percentage evens out.

Mitchell Robinson made his Celtics debut on Tuesday and finished with four points (2-of-2 FGs), three rebounds, one assist, one steal and two blocks against the Pistons.

Robinson got the starting nod in his debut for the Celtics, but, as expected, he didn’t dominate the minutes. Neemias Queta played 22 minutes off the bench, and Luka Garza logged eight minutes, leaving Robinson with the other 18. It’s absolutely worth noting that Robinson injured his ankle in this game and was seen icing it after, though Joe Mazzulla downplayed the severity. If Robinson ends up missing any time, Queta will likely slide back into the starting lineup.
