Davion Mitchell puts up 13/3/4 against Nets

Like the other Heat starters, Mitchell was shut down at the half. He didn’t have a great night shooting, but that shouldn’t dissuade fantasy managers from selecting “Off Night” in drafts. Miami lacks depth at point guard, especially with Dru Smith (hamstring) not guaranteed to be fully ready when the regular season begins. With Giannis Antetokounmpo joining the lineup, Mitchell could potentially provide more value in assists and three-pointers than he did in 2025-26.

Smith, who played a career-high 70 games last season, is dealing with a strained right calf. With the reported timeline, he may be limited when the regular season begins. Smith’s absence doesn’t affect fantasy basketball, but it does leave a Heat team already light on options at point guard down a rotation piece. Unfortunately for Mitchell, his blocked game-winning layup attempt will be the lasting memory of what was a very strong performance. Mitchell played 70 games this season and made a big step as a passer. Yet he wasn’t a reliable option when it came to fantasy basketball.

Wiggins was one of several Heat players to make positive contributions on the offensive end of the floor. His 27 points trailed only Davion Mitchell’s 28, as the veteran forward had production across all three scoring levels. Wiggins was also one of the Heat’s best rebounders on the night during his 42 minutes of game action. He finished the season as a fairly comparable fantasy basketball performer as he was a season ago, albeit on fewer points per game. If Wiggins remains on the Heat going forward, he could be in for a similar season.

Herro and Mitchell are available for Sunday’s regular-season finale after not playing in Friday’s win over the Wizards. Their returns will push Simone Fontecchio and Kasparas Jakučionis to the bench, with the former offering a higher ceiling when used in a reserve role. A win over the Hawks, combined with a Hornets loss to the Knicks, would move Miami into the No. 9 seed. They would host the 9 vs. 10 game on Wednesday night.

Mitchell, who recorded his fifth double-double of the season in Thursday’s loss to the Raptors, is out with a right shoulder contusion. His absence likely means a spot start for rookie Kasparas Jakučionis, who has seldom merited streaming in fantasy leagues this season.

After struggling with his perimeter shot in his first two-plus NBA seasons, Mitchell has made significant strides since joining the Heat last season. A 44.7 percent shooter from deep in his 30 regular-season games for Miami last season, “Off Night” has made over 39 percent of his attempts in 2025-26. Against the Celtics, Mitchell shot 5-of-10 from three and dished out seven assists without a turnover. The Heat play once more in Week 23, as they host the Wizards on Saturday.
