The Pacers announced Monday former player Sam Perkins has been named vice president of player relations.
Perkins’ main role will be keeping the players’ names off of police blotters in Indy. “He’s a good man with many qualities that will help the franchise,” Larry Bird said.

Jarred Vanderbilt (leg) is available for Friday’s game against the Grizzlies.
While Vanderbilt is still dealing with a sore right leg, he is healthy enough to play. His availability is more critical to the Lakers than to fantasy managers due to his defensive ability.
Why Dort feels like the 'odd man out' with OKC
Numbers on the Board shifts the pressure meter to players entering the new year, highlighting Zaccharie Risachier's status as a former No. 1 pick and Lu Dort's place with the OKC Thunder.
  • Brandin Podziemski, Moses Moody, Will Richard, Gui Santos and Quinten Post will start Friday’s game against the Thunder.
The Warriors are down multiple starters for Friday’s game, with Moody and Post being the holdovers. Podziemski and Richard are worth rostering in this spot, while fantasy managers can afford to leave Santos on the waiver wire.
  • UTA Forward-Center #23
Lauri Markkanen (knee) is questionable for Saturday’s game against the Warriors.
Markkanen was held out of Thursday’s loss to the Clippers with a left knee contusion, resulting in Svi Mykhailiuk returning to the starting lineup. If Utah gets its leading scorer back, Svi will be headed to the bench and could fall out of the rotation entirely.
  • UTA Guard #3
Keyonte George (illness) is questionable for Saturday’s game against the Warriors.
George was held out of Thursday’s loss to the Clippers, resulting in Isaiah Collier starting and Walter Clayton Jr. playing 30 minutes off the bench. Both players will take a hit if George is available to play against Golden State.
  • UTA Center #30
Jusuf Nurkić (toe) is questionable for Saturday’s game against the Warriors.
Nurkić did not play in Thursday’s loss to the Clippers, resulting in Kyle Filipowski receiving the starting nod. If the veteran center can play on Saturday, Filipowski will head to the bench, but he’s worth holding onto in advance of the “silly season.”
  • UTA Forward-Center #42
Kevin Love (rest) is not on the injury report for Saturday’s game against the Warriors.
Love is available after three games off for rest. How much he plays will depend on Lauri Markkanen and Jusuf Nurkić, both of whom are questionable for Saturday’s game. If the starters can play, Love’s opportunities will be limited.
  • UTA Forward #19
Ace Bailey (hip) is out for Saturday’s game against the Warriors.
Bailey will miss a fourth straight game due to a strained left hip flexor. Brice Sensabaugh should remain in the starting lineup until the rookie is healthy enough to play.
  • LAC Center #40
ESPN’s Shams Charania reports that Ivica Zubac (ankle) will be available for Saturday’s game against the Celtics.
Sidelined since injuring his ankle during a December 20 win over the Lakers, Zubac will be available on Saturday. Brook Lopez has filled in admirably as his replacement in the lineup, providing a different look offensively with his three-point shooting. With Zubac back, Yanic Konan Niederhäuser will likely fall out of the rotation entirely.
  • GSW Forward #1
Jonathan Kuminga (back) is questionable for Friday’s game against the Thunder.
Absent from the Warriors’ initial injury report, Kuminga is now questionable. His potential absence would not affect fantasy basketball, as Kuminga has not been a consistent member of the rotation.
  • NOP Center #21
Jeremiah Fears, Jordan Poole, Bryce McGowens, Zion Williamson and Yves Missi will start Friday’s game against the Trail Blazers.
The Pelicans won’t have Trey Murphy, Derik Queen, Herb Jones or Saddiq Bey for Friday’s game, opening up multiple spots in the starting lineup. Poole, McGowens and Missi will step up to fill the voids, with Poole being the most reliable fantasy option.
