Shams Charania of The Athletic reported on Friday that the Utah Jazz have received permission to interview G League Grand Rapids Gold head coach Jason Terry to fill their head coaching vacancy.

Terry is a former NBA champion and Sixth Man of the Year. His vast NBA experience could prove beneficial for a Jazz squad that hasn’t been able to make it past the second round. The Jazz have plenty of other candidates to interview, while Terry is receiving interest as an assistant coach around the league. In the Gold’s first year in the G League, Terry coached both Isaiah Thomas and Nik Stauskas to big performances, while guiding the team to a 22-23 record.

Franz Wagner (shoulder) is not on the injury report and will be available to play against the Hawks on Wednesday.

After practicing in full on Tuesday, Wagner announced his intention to play against Atlanta, and now it’s official. Orlando will have their full starting unit to open the year, and Wagner should see a full workload in his usual starting spot.

Grant Williams (hamstring) has been ruled out against the Nets on Wednesday.

Williams will remain sidelined after missing the preseason, but he has progressed to individual on-court work. Williams may return soon, but until then, Royce O’Neale will likely be tasked with the power forward minutes behind Naz Reid.

Kon Knueppel (hamstring) has been ruled out against the Nets on Wednesday.

Knueppel missed the preseason and will remain out for the season opener, though he has progressed to individual on-court work. Knueppel may return soon, but until then, Charlotte will turn to Grayson Allen and Sion James to fill the void, with Allen being the better streaming option for fantasy managers.

Coby White (calf) has been ruled out against the Nets.

White missed the preseason and will remain sidelined for at least the season opener. He has returned to doing individual on-court work, which is a sign he shouldn’t be far off from a return. Dennis Schröder should operate as the starting point guard in his place.

Vladislav Goldin (ankle) is questionable to play against the Timberwolves on Wednesday.

Goldin’s status for the season opener is up in the air, but there shouldn’t be much of an impact on Miami’s rotation. Goldin is on a two-way contract and will likely only see minutes this season if Bam Adebayo is injured.

Steven Adams (calf) and Julian Phillips (illness) are questionable for Wednesday’s matchup with the Mavericks.

Phillips’ absence doesn’t impact fantasy hoops, but if Adams is sidelined, Clint Capela could see additional run behind Alperen Sengun.

Isaac Okoro (quad) is probable for Wednesday’s matchup with the Raptors.

Okoro missed the final three games of the preseason due to a quad contusion, but he’s on track to return for Wednesday’s season opener. Okoro is a better on-the-court player than fantasy asset, so managers outside of deep leagues can leave him on the waiver wire.

Jordan Hawkins (gastrointestinal illness) is doubtful for Wednesday’s matchup with the Raptors.

Hawkins will tend to a stomachache and miss the first game of the season. The two-way guard’s next chance to make his Bulls debut will come Friday against the Bucks.

Celtics reporter Bobby Manning reports that the Celtics will start Derrick White, Jordan Walsh, Jayson Tatum, Paul George and Mitchell Robinson in Tuesday’s season opener against the Pistons.

White, George and Tatum were all locks for the starting lineup, but the remaining two spots were up for grabs. Walsh will slot into the final wing spot, and Robinson will replace Neemias Queta as the starting center. Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla experimented with lineups throughout the 2025-26 campaign, and that may be the case in 2026-27.

Mavericks reporter Grant Afseth reports that Santi Aldama (knee) is not expected to play in Wednesday’s opener against the Rockets, but he is “getting very close.”

Aldama is still recovering from March knee surgery, and it will cost him at least the first game of the 2026-27 season. Aldama’s absence should free up more playing time for rookie Morez Johnson Jr.
