Anthony Edwards played 23 minutes in Saturday’s 92-62 win over Slovenia, accounting for 15 points (7-of-14 FGs, 0-of-1 FTs), four rebounds, one assist, three steals, one block, and one 3-pointer.
The United States was, as was the case in their first friendly against Puerto Rico, incredibly balanced offensively. While only two players (Edwards and Jalen Brunson) reached double figures, eight scored at least seven in Saturday’s blowout. Edwards led the way, and this could be a sign of what’s to come in the upcoming FIBA World Cup. His combination of size, skill, and athleticism should mesh well with the international game. Edwards and the Americans are back in action on Sunday, as they’re scheduled to face Spain.
