  • TOR Center #24

Bruno Fernando (toe) is questionable for Sunday’s game against the Hawks.
It seems like most of the Raptors’ roster is questionable entering Sunday’s game. Fernando would be in line to start if Jakob Poeltl (ankle), who is also questionable, were to miss the game. Alas, Fernando is questionable himself, though his availability doesn’t impact fantasy basketball much at all.
  • UTA Forward-Center #23

Lauri Markkanen, Svi Mykhailiuk, Jusuf Nurkic, Ace Bailey and Keyonte George will start against the Grizzlies on Friday.
Markkanen is back in Utah’s starting lineup after an illness kept him out for the team’s recent loss to the Thunder. His return will give the Jazz an elite three-level scorer at the forward position and the team’s leader in points per game. Kyle Filipowski will head back to the bench to help Utah’s depth.
Edey out at least four weeks with ankle injury
Noah Rubin shares some bad news about Zach Edey, who is projected to miss at least four weeks after suffering a stress reaction in his left ankle, sharing why Memphis will need Jock Landale to step up in Edey's absense.
  • MEM Forward-Center #7
Ja Morant, Cedric Coward, Jaylen Wells, Jaren Jackson Jr. and Santi Aldama will start Friday’s game against the Jazz.
While Morant’s return from a strained calf is the most significant change to the Grizzlies’ starting lineup, it isn’t the only one. While Jock Landale has been the preferred choice in the past, Aldama will step in to fill the void left by the injured Zach Edey (ankle). Edey will be out for at least four weeks, so there’s still time for Landale to slide into the lineup. But this decision bodes well for Aldama’s fantasy value, which is capped when he comes off the bench.
  • ORL Center #14
Colin Castleton (thumb) is out for Saturday’s game against the Knicks.
Castleton is dealing with a fractured left thumb, so he isn’t going to be available for quite some time. And with the 6-foot-10 center being on a two-way contract, his availability does not affect fantasy basketball or the Magic rotation.
  • NYK Forward #4
Pacôme Dadiet (ankle) is questionable for Saturday’s game against the Magic.
Dadiet’s availability does not affect the Knicks’ rotation or fantasy basketball. He should only be considered in dynasty leagues at this stage of his career.
  • LAL Guard #15
Austin Reaves (calf) will be re-evaluated in one week.
Reaves has been diagnosed with a mild left calf strain and will be re-evaluated in one week. His absence significantly affects fantasy basketball and the Lakers’ rotation, creating an opening in the team’s starting lineup. Marcus Smart and Gabe Vincent are candidates to fill the void, with the former being the more likely choice due to what he brings to the table defensively. Reaves’ absence also means increased usage for Luka Dončić and LeBron James.
  • DET Forward #12
Tobias Harris, Jalen Duren, Cade Cunningham, Duncan Robinson and Ausar Thompson will start Friday against the Hawks.
Harris will make his return to the starting lineup after being out for a week with an ankle injury. His return gives the Pistons their opening-night starting unit, which will move Isaiah Stewart back to a reserve role to bolster Detroit’s bench. The Pistons have won four of their past five games and currently sit atop the Eastern Conference standings with a 19-5 record.
  • D’Angelo Russell (illness) is out for Friday’s game against the Nets.
Added to the Mavericks’ injury report on Friday afternoon, Russell will not be available for the matchup with the Nets. His absence does not change much from a fantasy standpoint, as Ryan Nembhard and Brandon Williams were ahead of D’Lo in the pecking order.
  • DAL Forward-Center #21
Daniel Gafford (ankle) is out for Friday’s game against the Nets.
Gafford will miss a third straight game with a lingering right ankle injury. The absence of him and Dereck Lively II means that Dwight Powell will be part of the rotation, serving mainly as Anthony Davis’ backup. There’s no need to consider adding Powell with a healthy AD in the fold.
  • SAS Forward-Center #1
Spurs head coach Mitch Johnson said on Friday that Victor Wembanyama (calf) will be subbed earlier than usual and play fewer minutes in Saturday’s game against the Thunder.
Saturday’s NBA Cup semifinal will be Wembanyama’s first game since November 14, and the Spurs will not take any chances with his health. He’ll be restricted in two ways: the Spurs will sub him out earlier than usual, resulting in shorter stints on the court, and his overall playing time will decrease. Luke Kornet will shift back into his usual backup center role, but his ceiling may be slightly higher than usual due to the restrictions the team is imposing on Wembanyama.
  • PHI Center-Forward #21
Joel Embiid (knee) is available to play on Friday against the Pacers.
Embiid is active and set to make his second straight appearance for the Sixers. Philadelphia has been off since December 7, when it lost 112-108 to the Lakers in a game in which Embiid logged 30 minutes for just the second time this season. He’s averaging 18.2 points and 5.6 rebounds per game thus far. Fantasy managers are hoping the former MVP can stay healthy enough to start to see an increased workload and eventually increased production.
