Report: Jericho Sims intends to opt in for 2026-27

HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto reports that Jericho Sims intends to pick up his player option for the 2026-27 season.

While his numbers did not jump off the page, Sims had his most productive season as a pro in 2025-26. Appearing in 67 games, he averaged 5.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.6 assists, shooting 78.4 percent from the field and 64.0 percent from the foul line. Sims’ playing time picked up down the stretch as the Bucks fell off the pace for a postseason spot, and there were also times when he played more due to Myles Turner’s rebounding struggles. If the Bucks were to move on from Turner, there may be more opportunities for Sims, even with the addition of Kel’el Ware via the Giannis Antetokounmpo trade.

Nance has a non-guaranteed $2.49 million contract in places for 2026-27 with the Bucks. Major changes are coming here, so it’s hard to project his role, but it’s possible he could be a reserve for the team next year.

The Bucks’ lost season has created more opportunities for the athletic center to show what he’s capable of, especially on nights when Myles Turner is unavailable. Sims played 38 minutes against the Pistons, with his stat line only lacking a blocked shot. He has a team option for next season worth just over $2.8 million; we’ll see if Sims has done enough for the Bucks to pick it up.

Turner and Kuz sat out Tuesday’s matchup with Brooklyn, and they’ll both miss the second leg of Milwaukee’s back-to-back set. Jericho Sims and Pete Nance could see significant frontcourt minutes.

Rollins’ availability is of greater consequence to fantasy managers, especially since starting center Myles Turner is off the injury report. Rollins’ expected return after missing Wednesday’s loss to the Rockets likely pushes AJ Green to the bench. As for Sims, he grabbed 20 rebounds as the starting center the last time out. He and Turner were starters the last time that both players were available, Tuesday’s win over the Mavericks.

Richard looked on Friday like someone who’d logged legitimate NBA minutes before. He shot the ball efficiently, did some nice secondary playmaking, and was active defensively with his hands. But one of the most important takeaways from the contest was how productive Richard was from beyond the arc. He shot 4-of-5 from deep, which is big, considering the 33.5 percent of three-pointers he made last season as a rookie. If he can remain consistent from the three-point line, Richard should be able to find a bigger role next season on a team that currently has limited backcourt depth.

However, he could potentially grow into a role in the regular-season rotation if the level of shooting he displayed against Golden State is sustainable.

Young has been with the Heat organization for one season, so his familiarity with the system should help him remain productive during the NBA Summer League. Given that he never played more than 10 minutes in any of his 14 appearances with the Heat last season, it’s unlikely he’ll have much fantasy relevance during the 2026-27 season.

Miller entered restricted free agency this summer but opted to return to the Clippers for another three seasons.
