Koa Peat shot 5-of-8 from the field in Wednesday’s exhibition against the Spurs, scoring 10 points with four rebounds and one assist.

Peat, the 30th overall pick in June’s draft, logged 16 minutes off the bench in San Antonio. Given Phoenix’s current crop of forwards, rotation minutes may be challenging to come by early in the season. However, this group has struggled with injuries in recent seasons, which may open the door for Peat. He played well against the Spurs, but the rookie should only be rostered in dynasty leagues right now.

Peat has played well in all three of Phoenix’s games in Las Vegas, with Monday’s game being the most productive in points. The rookie forward recorded just one assist, but the Suns seemed to have no problem with him bringing the ball up the floor and facilitating. With Devin Booker, Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks and Miles Bridges on the roster, Peat is unlikely to have the ball in his hands much as a rookie. However, he’s shown the ability to influence play despite offering little as a perimeter shooter.

Peat’s physicality was one of his strengths at the college level, and it was on display in his summer league debut on Friday. The rookie forward shot over 50 percent from the field and was active on the glass, but he also committed eight personal fouls. Players are allowed 10 fouls in summer league, so that isn’t a huge issue. However, getting better at playing with physicality without fouling will be an area in which Peat needs to improve. Against the Trail Blazers, he did his offensive work around the basket and in the mid-range, not attempting a three-pointer. Perimeter shooting is where Peat has the most work to do, so the lack of attempts isn’t a surprise.

Along with teammate Brayden Burries, Peat helped lead Arizona to its first Final Four since 2001. In 36 games, the 6-foot-7 forward averaged 14.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 0.7 blocks, shooting 52.8 percent from the field and 62.3 percent from the foul line. Peat did most of his damage offensively in the paint, and he struggled with his shot at the NBA Draft Combine. That’s the area where he will need to improve, but the rebounding ability and motor will allow Peat to compete for minutes immediately. He’ll head about two hours north of where he played his college basketball, with the Arizona native’s draft rights being acquired by the Suns. How much help the Suns need in the frontcourt will depend partially on what happens with Mark Williams, who will be a restricted free agent. Peat is not a center, but his athleticism and rebounding ability will be key, especially if the Suns move on from Williams. This pick was part of a three-team deal, with Phoenix acquiring it from Dallas after Dallas acquired the draft rights of No. 25 pick Sergio De Larrea from the Knicks. New York, which moves out of the first round with the transaction, received three future second-round picks.

Julian Phillips (illness) is available for Wednesday’s game against the Mavericks.

Phillips is good to go after initially being questionable for Wednesday’s season opener. However, with the Rockets largely healthy on the perimeter, the two-way contract wing is unlikely to get the minutes needed to affect fantasy basketball.

Steven Adams (calf) is out for Wednesday’s game against the Mavericks.

Adams was seemingly on the wrong side of questionable with a calf injury and has since been ruled out for Wednesday’s game against the Mavericks. Adams wasn’t likely to have much of an impact on fantasy basketball anyway, but his absence will open up some bench minutes for Clint Capela behind starter Alperen Sengun.

Jazz will start Keyonte George, Darryn Peterson, Lauri Markkanen, Jaren Jackson Jr. and Jaxson Hayes against the Grizzlies on Wednesday.

George had a breakout season in 2025-26 and the Jazz rewarded him with a contract extension worth more than $150 million over five years. He’ll make his first start since signing his new deal alongside Peterson, Markkanen, Jackson and Hayes.

The Pacers will start Tyrese Haliburton, Andrew Nembhard, Kelly Oubre, Pascal Siakam, and Ivica Zubac against the Pelicans

Kelly Oubre is getting the start with Aaron Nesmith out with a hamstring strain. Oubre can be used as a streamer in redraft leagues for today.

Pelicans will start Dejounte Murray, Jeremiah Fears, Troy Murphy III, Zion Williamson and Yves Missi against the Pacers on Wednesday.

Murray suffered a bruised toe during the preseason, but is good to go for the Pelicans’ opener against the Pacers. He’ll start alongside Fears, Murphy, Williamson and Missi.

Ty Jerome, Cedric Coward, Jaylen Wells, Cameron Boozer and Zach Edey will start Wednesday’s game against the Jazz.

The Grizzlies have a new frontcourt, with Boozer, the third overall pick in last summer’s draft, and Edey, returning from a season-ending ankle injury. They’ll play prominent roles in the Grizzlies’ lineup as the franchise rebuilds after trading Jaren Jackson Jr. and Ja Morant. Jerome and Coward also offer high fantasy upside with their starting roles.

Walter Clayton Jr. will be available against the Rockets for season opener

Clayton signed a two-way contract today with the Dallas Mavericks and will be available to play. Given that he’s on a two-way, its unlikely that he impacts many fantasy leagues early on in the year.

Jett Howard (calf) is out for Wednesday’s game against the Rockets.

Listed as questionable on Dallas’ initial injury report, Howard was downgraded to doubtful on Wednesday afternoon. He’s out now, and the former first-round pick’s absence won’t affect the Mavericks’ rotation or fantasy basketball.

The Raptors will start Emmanuel Quickley, R.J. Barrett, Kawhi Leonard, Scottie Barnes and Jacob Poeltl against the Bulls on Wednesday.

Leonard spent the 2018-19 season in Toronto, delivering the franchise’s only championship. The 35-year-old small forward is set to make his return in the Raptors’ season opener against the Bulls Wednesday. He’ll start alongside Quickly, Barrett, Barnes and Poeltl.

Dejounte Murray (toe) will start for the Pelicans against the Pacers.

After suffering a bruised toe during the preseason, Murray will be playing in the Pelicans season opener against the Pacers. This comes at no surprise as he was able to practice since the injury.
