Cooper Flagg

DAL Forward #32

Player Stats

Cooper Flagg (shoulder) is out for Saturday’s game against the Spurs.

No surprise here as Flagg left Friday night’s game against the Pacers with shoulder soreness. Expect the Mavericks to play through Kyrie Irving in his absence against the Spurs on Saturday.

Cooper Flagg (shoulder) was upgraded to probable for Monday’s game against the Heat.

Flagg made it through shootaround and was upgraded to probable for Monday’s game against the Heat. All signs point to the 19-year-old forward returning after a one-game absence. Flagg should be started in all fantasy formats as the week begins.
Cooper Flagg

DAL Forward #32

Cooper Flagg (shoulder) participated in shootaround ahead of Monday’s game against the Heat.

Flagg is still listed as questionable for the matchup against the Heat, but seems to be trending in the right direction. He left Friday’s game against the Pacers with a shoulder injury and subsequently missed Saturday’s game against the Spurs. If Flagg returns Monday, he’ll replace Zaccharie Risacher in the starting lineup after only missing one game.
Cooper Flagg

DAL Forward #32

Cooper Flagg (shoulder) is questionable for Monday’s game against the Heat.

Flagg being listed as questionable on the Mavericks’ initial injury report is good news for fantasy managers. After he sustained a shoulder injury during Friday’s win over the Pacers, expectations were that the reigning Rookie of the Year would miss a few days. Now, Flagg could miss just one game after sitting out Saturday’s loss to the Spurs. If he returns, Zaccharie Risacher will head to the bench.
Naji Marshall

DAL Forward #3

Naji Marshall produced 10 points (4-of-8 FGs, 1-of- 3 FTs), four rebounds, five assists, one steal and one three-pointer in Saturday’s loss to the Spurs.

With Kyrie Irving and Cooper Flagg unavailable, Marshall moved into the starting lineup for Saturday’s game. He took on playmaking responsibilities for large stretches of the 122-106 defeat, dishing out five of the 12 assists recorded by Mavericks starters. While Irving should be back for Monday’s game against the Heat, Flagg’s shoulder injury may keep him out for multiple games. If so, Marshall is worth streaming in deep leagues.
Cooper Flagg

DAL Forward #32

Cooper Flagg was on his way with 14 points (4-of-6 FGs, 4-of-4 FTs), five rebounds, six assists, three steals, a block, and two 3-pointers before exiting with shoulder injury.

Cooper Flagg is ascending and it is happening quickly. He entered first round conversations in redraft leagues this season and is an easy top 8 asset in dynasty leagues. While he’s like Jayson Tatum in terms of a fantasy player, he will be one of the main faces of the league moving forward. Now, we await the severity of the shoulder injury he sustained. It’s officially listed as soreness, but we’ll get more details tomorrow or the day after.
Cooper Flagg

DAL Forward #32

Cooper Flagg (shoulder) will not return against the Pacers.

The official ruling is left shoulder soreness according to Marc Stein. We’ll likely get more information on the severity of it tomorrow but if he were to miss time, Naji Marshall and Zaccharie Risacher would likely be the players who would benefit the most.

Cooper Flagg (shoulder) heads to the locker room early holding his shoulder.

Cooper Flagg got hit from a hard foul and went to the locker room early to get his shoulder checked on.
Cooper Flagg

DAL Forward #32

Cooper Flagg had 32 points (10-of-17 FGs, 11-of-13 FTs), five rebounds, two assists, three steals, one block and one three-pointer in Wednesday’s game against the Rockets.

Flagg filled up the stat sheet and dropped 32 points in the Mavericks season opener. There’s not much more you could ask from the 19-year-old, which shows how much of an uphill battle it might be for Dallas this year as the Mavericks lost to the Rockets by 18. Flagg and the Mavericks have two more games this week with a back-to-back against the Pacers and Spurs on Friday and Saturday.
Dusty May

DAL Head Coach

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Mavericks have hired Dusty May to be the team’s next head coach.

May took Florida Atlantic on an improbable Final Four run in 2023, and just three years later, he guided Michigan to a national championship. May’s meteoric rise through the coaching ranks will now take him to Dallas, where he’ll look to get Cooper Flagg and Co. back into playoff contention after a 26-56 campaign. It’s a very bold hire, but May has proven to be an expert at building a program and that’s exactly what the Mavericks need now.
Cooper Flagg

DAL Forward #32

Cooper Flagg, Kon Knueppel, VJ Edgecombe, Dylan Harper and Cedric Coward were named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team on Wednesday.

Flagg, Knueppel, and Edgecombe all received 100 first-place votes, with Harper’s 93 votes not far behind. Cedric Coward’s 29 first-place votes were the least of the first-teamers. Meanwhile, Derik Queen, Maxime Raynaud, Jeremiah Fears, Ace Bailey, and Colin Murray-Boyles were named to the All-Rookie Second team.

Lopez missed Sunday’s game against the Kings and is seemingly on the wrong side of questionable for Monday’s tilt with the Jazz. His likely absence won’t impact fantasy basketball, however.

Suggs was diagnosed with a mild bone bruise in his right knee, according to Charania. He’ll be re-evaluated in two weeks. Suggs hyperextended his right knee and was helped to the locker room during the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game against the Knicks. This is seems to be good news for Suggs, who appears to have avoided a more serious injury.

Chet Holmgren (knee) is out for Monday’s game against the Suns.

Holmgren is dealing with right patellar tendonitis. Isaiah Hartenstein stepped up with 12 points and 12 rebounds in the win over the Clippers Sunday while Holmgren had a relatively quiet game with 10 points and four rebounds. Hartenstein should see even more usage with Holmgren out Monday against the Suns.
