Trey Burke has reportedly exercised his option for the 2022-23 season, according to Keith Smith.
As a result of this decision, Burke is due to be paid $3.3 million next season. His decision to opt into the final year of his contract now means that the trade between the Mavericks and Rockets, which is headlined by Christian Wood, can be completed. Due to the Stepien Rule, the trade won’t become official until after Dallas makes the 26th overall pick (which is headed to Houston in the deal) in the draft on June 23.

Cooper Flagg, Max Christie, Naji Marshall, Anthony Davis and Daniel Gafford will start Tuesday’s game against the Kings.
The Mavericks are without P.J. Washington, who suffered a sprained right ankle during Saturday’s win over the Rockets. He’ll be replaced in the lineup by Marshall, who started the second half of that victory. That’s the lone change to the starting lineup, with Flagg once again serving as the primary playmaker.
Carter wants Edgecombe, Sharpe in dunk contest
Vince Carter and NBA Showtime break down their players of interest for the Slam Dunk Contest at NBA All-Star weekend, calling for Shaedon Sharpe, VJ Edgecombe, Amen Thompson, Stephon Castle, and many others.
  • NOP Forward #2
Herb Jones (ankle) finished Tuesday’s loss to the Lakers with three points (1-of-9 FGs), two rebounds, one steal and one three-pointer.
  • NOP Forward #1
Zion Williamson produced 15 points (7-of-13 FGs, 1-of-5 FTs), four rebounds, five assists, one steal and one blocked shot in Tuesday’s loss to the Lakers.
  • NOP Center #22
Derik Queen finished Tuesday’s loss to the Lakers with 10 points (5-of-10 FGs), 13 rebounds, eight assists and two steals.
  • NOP Forward #25
Trey Murphy recorded 42 points (14-of-26 FGs, 8-of-9 FTs), five rebounds, three assists and six three-pointers in Tuesday’s loss to the Lakers.
  • LAL Center #5
Deandre Ayton accumulated 18 points (9-of-16 FGs), 11 rebounds, three assists, one steal and two blocked shots in Tuesday’s win over the Pelicans.
  • LAL Forward-Guard #77
Luka Dončić tallied 30 points (11-of-22 FGs, 5-of-9 FTs), two rebounds, two assists, two steals, one block and three three-pointers in Tuesday’s win over the Pelicans.
  • LAL Forward #23
LeBron James finished Tuesday’s win over the Pelicans with 30 points (10-of-19 FGs, 7-of-7 FTs), eight rebounds, eight assists, two steals, one block and three three-pointers.
  • MIN Guard #5
Anthony Edwards led the Timberwolves to a 122-94 blowout win over the Heat on Tuesday, accumulating 26 points (8-of-18 FGs, 5-of-6 FTs), five rebounds, three assists, one steal and two blocks over 29 minutes.
Edwards poured in 16 first-half points to help the Timberwolves build an early lead, which they extended to nearly 30 points by the midway point of the fourth quarter, in their second contest against Miami in the last three days. The combination of the score and a couple early fouls cut into Edwards’ minutes and prevented him from an even more impressive scoring performance as he was feeling it from long range, hitting 5-of-8 from beyond the arc. The 24-year-old franchise cornerstone has put together a phenomenal season, averaging 29.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.4 steals and 0.8 blocks through 30 games.
  • MIA Guard #14
Tyler Herro piled up 17 points (7-of-15 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), nine rebounds and three assists over 28 minutes in Tuesday’s lopsided defeat at the hands of the Timberwolves.
Herro looked like his usual self coming off the bench in this one following an 11-game absence recovering from a right toe injury. He shot the ball well overall but was just 1-of-4 from three-point range in his first game action since December 9. It was an off night for Miami overall as they shot just 35.7 percent from the floor as a team and failed to break the century mark. It’s been a frustrating season for Herro, and fantasy managers, as injuries have limited to just seven games after he played 77 of 82 last year. He shouldn’t have too many restrictions from a minutes standpoint moving forward.
