John Poulakidas puts up 14/3 against the Pelicans

John Poulakidas puts up 14 points (4-of-8 FGs, 2-of-3 FTs), three rebounds, and a block on Wednesday.

Poulakidas started to play more when the Mavericks were trying to lose down the stretch of last season. The Yale sharpshooter showed some promise last season and has continued to look good shooting the ball here. He likely won’t be an impact player this season, but considering how this roster lacks some shooting outside of Kyrie, its possible he gets a role off the bench at some point.
Holmgren injury further depletes Thunder rotation
Chet Holmgren will miss 8-10 weeks with a patellar tendon tear, further depleting the Thunder’s roster while creating additional opportunities for Isaiah Hartenstein, Kenrich Williams and Aday Mara.

Reed Sheppard (back) is available for Monday’s game against the Celtics.

Sheppard is available after missing Houston’s last two games. His return may mean Bogdan Bogdanović plays fewer minutes after logging 19 minutes in Saturday’s win over the Thunder.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Ajay Mitchell, Kenrich Williams, Jaylin Williams and Isaiah Hartenstein will start Monday’s game against the Cavaliers.

Although Jared McCain is available for Monday’s game, the Thunder are starting with a bigger lineup. JayWill has replaced him, which should help the Thunder match up better against Cleveland’s Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen.

Dylan Cardwell (calf) is out for Monday’s game against the Mavericks.

Not long after he was downgraded from questionable to doubtful, Cardwell was ruled out for Monday. Jonathan Mogbo should remain in the Kings’ rotation, but he should not be rostered in redraft leagues.

James Harden, Donovan Mitchell, Meleek Thomas, Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen will start Monday’s game against the Thunder.

The Cavaliers won’t have Peyton Watson (hamstring) for Monday’s game, so Thomas will make his first career start. The rookie has scored in double figures in all three games he’s played this season. However, while there’s some streaming value, this is also a 15-game night, so there may be safer options than Thomas sitting on your league’s waiver wire.

Terrence Shannon Jr. (hip) is out for Monday’s game against the Bucks.

Shannon won’t play on Monday after initially being listed as questionable. His absence frees up minutes for Cody Williams, who was a DNP-CD on Saturday against the Spurs.

Peyton Watson (hamstring) has been ruled out against the Thunder on Monday.

Watson will miss a game for the first time this season, and Jaylon Tyson (ankle) also happens to be sidelined. Rookie Meleek Thomas, Sam Merrill or Mario Hezonja will likely step into a starting role, though all three will see more minutes.

Kyrie Irving (knee) has been ruled out against the Kings on Monday.

Irving was downgraded to doubtful earlier in the day and has now officially been ruled out. He has been fantastic this season, and a rest night in this one will help him stay fresh, even if this isn’t part of a back-to-back. Naji Marshall is a candidate to replace Irving in the starting lineup.

Santi Aldama (knee) is out for Monday’s game against the Kings.

While Aldama is nearing a return to the court, he isn’t ready yet. His continued absence won’t affect fantasy basketball, since his role in the Mavericks’ frontcourt rotation remains unclear.

Larry Nance Jr. (illness) is out for Monday’s game against the Hawks.

The Pacers will have only eight active players on Monday, with one (Obi Toppin) missing the game due to a back injury. Nance’s absence means Jay Huff and Jalen Slawson will have to play heavy minutes in the frontcourt.

According to Pacers head coach Rick Carlisle, Braden Smith will start Monday’s game against the Hawks.

Between actual injuries and injury-management situations, the Pacers will have eight active players on Monday. And one, Obi Toppin (back), is active only to meet the eight-player minimum; he won’t play. So Smith, the NCAA’s all-time assist leader, will start at point guard. If the other available Pacers can knock down some shots, it would be unsurprising if Smith hit double figures in assists.
