Junior Caminero crushed a game-tying home run off of Seranthony Domínguez in the ninth inning on Thursday as the Rays rallied to beat the White Sox 5-3.

The White Sox had just scored to take a one-run advantage in the home half of the eighth inning. Caminero made that disappear real quick, crushing a 3-1 sinker from the White Sox’ closer for a 375-foot (100.4 mph EV) solo shot to tie the game. The 22-year-old slugger also singled in the ballgame, finishing the afternoon 2-for-5. On the season, he’s now slashing .246/.354/.449 with four long balls and seven RBI.
Mike Trout

LAA Center Fielder #27

Mike Trout homered, walked three times and scored three times Thursday against the Yankees.

That’s a five-homer series for Trout, who is now batting .246/.416/.593. Including Sunday’s affair with the Reds, he’s scored three runs three times in his last five games. He’d done that a total of twice in 255 games since the beginning of 2023. His third run today came on a Jo Adell grand slam after he was intentionally walked.
Chase Burns

CIN Starting Pitcher #26

Chase Burns threw six shutout innings against the Giants on Thursday, allowing just two hits and one walk.

Burns was pumping 97.6 mph gas with the fastball and got a 36 percent whiff rate with his slider. It’s a little disappointing he only struck out four, but he generated plenty of weak contact and even his two hits allowed got little air time. Burns carries a 2.42 ERA into his next start on the road in Tampa Bay and should be trusted in most leagues.
Landen Roupp

SF Starting Pitcher #65

Landen Roupp breezed through six shutout innings against the Reds on Thursday, striking out six in a win.

He carried a no-hitter into the sixth before allowing a single to P.J. Higgins to lead off the inning. He then took care of a 2-on, no-out threat by striking out Matt McClain and getting Elly De La Cruz to hit into a double play. It was threatening to be a no-decision as Chase Burns matched him frame-for-frame, but Cincinnati’s bullpen forked over three runs in the seventh. Roupp’s peripherals have been strong so far and he should be started with confidence against most teams. We wouldn’t blame you if you shied away from starting him against the Dodgers next week, though.
George Springer

TOR Right Fielder #4

Blue Jays manager John Schneider said George Springer (toe) is ‘feeling better’ after hitting off a tee on Thursday.

They’re reportedly targeting a return for Springer when they get back to Toronto next week. Springer has yet to run on the injury, but should make his comeback to the top of the lineup shortly. Springer was off to a .185/.290/.370 start with two homers and a stolen base before getting injured last Saturday.
Corey Seager

TEX Shortstop #5

Corey Seager is not in the Rangers’ starting lineup against the A’s on Thursday.

Against LHP Jacob Lopez, Seager gets a rest day. He homered yesterday and is off to a .203/.321/.453 start in his first 78 plate appearances this year. Ezequiel Duran will cover at shortstop this afternoon.
Daniel Susac

SF Catcher #6

Giants manager Tony Vitello said that Daniel Susac and Patrick Bailey may start splitting time at catcher.

Bailey is an elite defensive catcher, so the Giants are going to want to keep him on the field often, but this may be more of a 50/50 split going forward, with Vitello mentioning that the catchers may just alternate games. It’s a situation to monitor and likely makes neither player fantasy relevant.
Justin Verlander

DET Starting Pitcher #35

Justin Verlander (hip) threw a bullpen session on Wednesday, but Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said his recovery is “going a little slower than I think he anticipated or we anticipated.”

Hinch said, “I don’t think [Verlander’s] taking a step forward, and he hasn’t taken a step back.” That’s not really confidence-inducing. Verlander is 43 years old, so it makes sense that he might not bounce back as quickly as he did 20 years ago. Given that his performance on the field has also been inconsistent, this seems like a situation the Tigers won’t rush, and fantasy managers should avoid.
Lenyn Sosa

TOR 2nd Baseman #50

Lenyn Sosa is starting at second base and batting fifth against the Brewers on Thursday.

Sosa went 1-for-3 on Wednesday in his first start with the Blue Jays and will be right back out there again. Eloy Jimenez will remain on the bench with Kazuma Okamoto at first base and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. at DH. It seems that the Blue Jays are going to give Sosa a chance to start against right-handed pitchers and use the DH spot as a rotational lineup spot while potentially saving Jimenez for left-handed pitchers.
Jared Jones

PIT Starting Pitcher #17

Pirates Senior Director of Sports Medicine Todd Tomczyk said that Jared Jones (elbow) “will enter simulated game phase of rehab soon.”

According to Tomczyk, pitchers generally have between three and six simulated games or live batting practices before rehab assignments begin. If we assume that Jones will try to get two simulated appearances per week, there’s a chance that he is beginning a rehab assignment by early May, which would put him in line to be activated off the IL soon after he first becomes eligible on May 25th.
