Tristan Da Silva scores 20 points in 30 minutes

Injuries to Paolo Banchero (ankle) and Jalen Suggs (knee) have not resulted in da Silva moving into the starting lineup. However, that doesn’t prevent him from providing reliable fantasy value. Against the Celtics, da Silva recorded his first double-double of the season and second of his NBA career. Rostered in 22 percent of Yahoo leagues, da Silva is a worthwhile pickup, even with the Magic playing three games next week.

The expectation is that Black will be back with the team to play, but they’re still listing him as questionable. With Jalen Suggs (knee) set to miss a couple weeks, Black has a chance to start if he suits up tonight. If something changes, Jase Richardson, who is already starting, should take on more minutes. Tristan da Silva could enter the starting unit, with Franz Wagner taking on the point guard duties.

While the Magic started Jase Richardson (3 points, 1 three-pointer in 10 minutes) for the injured Paolo Banchero on Sunday, this was a prime spot for da Silva to provide greater fantasy value. That’s exactly what he did: he shot 5-of-9 from three and scored 19 of Orlando’s 47 bench points. The Magic also lost Jalen Suggs (knee) on Sunday, and a potential extended absence is another reason to add da Silva if he’s available.

Banchero and the Magic fell to 0-2 on Friday, and his right ankle injury made matters worse. While crashing for a rebound early in the third quarter, Banchero collided with teammate Jalen Suggs and tweaked his right ankle. Banchero returned after a quick trip to the locker room, but the team decided halfway through the fourth quarter to shut him down for the rest of the night. The Magic visit the Knicks on Sunday; if Banchero can’t play, Tristan da Silva is the most likely replacement in the starting lineup.

Banchero appeared to tweak his right ankle while crashing for a rebound early in the third quarter after colliding with teammate Jalen Suggs. He has since gone back to the locker room for further evaluation. Tristan da Silva has entered the lineup and should play more if Banchero can’t return.

Management of Isaac’s left knee injury will keep him out of a second consecutive game, but his continued absence won’t significantly impact the Magic rotation. Tristan da Silva and Jamal Cain remain Orlando’s top two bench options at forward.

Black will miss a second straight game as he recovers from a right ankle sprain. In the season opener against the Hawks, Tristan da Silva had a productive showing off the bench across 28 minutes. He should be heavily involved in the rotation until Black returns.

Only Jonathan Isaac could be sidelined due to knee injury management on opening night. He likely wasn’t going to play a significant role anyway. Tristan da Silva may take on a few extra minutes with Isaac unavailable.

Wagner exited Friday’s preseason finale against the Heat in the third quarter with right shoulder soreness. He was limited to light work in Sunday’s practice, and the Magic will continue to evaluate Wagner leading into Wednesday’s opener against the Hawks. If Franz can’t play, Tristan da Silva is the likely replacement in the starting lineup.

Wagner started the third quarter of Friday’s preseason finale but exited with a sore right shoulder. He stayed on the bench with his teammates, so the injury likely won’t sideline him for Orlando’s regular-season opener on October 21. If he does miss time, Tristan da Silva is the likely replacement in the starting lineup.
