Ryan Conwell recorded 19 points (7-of-16 FGs, 1-of-1 FTs), one rebound, three assists, one block and two three-pointers in Friday’s win over the Bucks.

After a solid finish at the California Classic, Conwell got his Vegas Summer League run off to a good start on Friday. While he was just 2-of-8 from beyond the arc, the rookie guard shot the ball reasonably well from two and recorded a few assists. Conwell did commit six personal fouls, so defending without fouling may be a focus for him moving forward, even though players are allowed 10 fouls in summer league play.

After shooting 6-of-18 from the field in Sunday’s loss to the Lakers, Conwell capped his California Classic with an excellent showing on Monday. The second-round pick out of Louisville shot 4-of-9 from beyond the arc and 4-of-5 inside of it while leading the Heat in scoring. The lone issue for Conwell on Monday was defending without fouling, as he was whistled for six fouls. That isn’t an issue during the summer, as players are allowed 10 fouls, but the number obviously drops to six once the games count.
  • After shooting 4-of-12 from the field in his summer debut, Conwell had a tougher time knocking down shots on Sunday. Included in the 6-of-18 afternoon was a 2-of-12 mark from beyond the arc, making the second-round pick 5-of-19 through two games. With the Heat in “win-now” mode following the acquisition of Giannis Antetokounmpo, rotation minutes may be challenging to come by for Conwell. However, Miami’s lack of future draft capital makes him someone worth tracking in dynasty leagues.
  • Conwell’s Summer League debut was a good one. The 37th-overall pick of the 2026 draft was one of two Miami players to reach at least 20 points in the game. Despite some inefficient shooting, he got to the line frequently, which is where he scored nearly half of his points. Conwell was the only player taken in the recent draft by the Heat, so he could have a good chance of being the team’s focal point throughout the summer.
  • In what has become a more common occurrence in this era of college basketball, Conwell played for four different schools in his four seasons. He saved his best for last, averaging 18.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.1 steals and 3.3 three-pointers in 30.9 minutes per game at Louisville in 2025-26. While a more than capable scorer, the 6-foot-4 guard will need to improve his efficiency to stick at the NBA level. Conwell shot 40.8 percent from the field, 34.5 percent from three and 83.2 percent from the foul line as a senior. Oklahoma City made the pick, but Conwell will be headed to Miami via trade. Given the talent that the Heat gave up to acquire Giannis Antetokounmpo, Conwell’s perimeter shooting ability could prove valuable. He isn’t a lock to provide reliable fantasy value as a rookie, but there should be opportunities to contribute.

Aday Mara had 10 points (4-of-6 FGs, 1-of-1 FTs), nine rebounds, four assists, and one block in the Thunder’s 104-79 loss to the Warriors on Sunday.

Midway through the second quarter, Mara drove the baseline and stopped before turning around and delivering a two-handed dunk. The 21-year-old center had 10 points and was also active on the boards with nine rebounds. Mara will likely see limited minutes as a rookie behind a crowded Thunder frontcourt, but holds significant value in dynasty formats.

Frank Vogel is poised to join the Warriors coaching staff, reports NBA Insider Marc Stein.

Vogel was last an NBA head coach in 2023 with the Suns, who fired him after just one season. His previous stop is perhaps more relevant here as he coached the Lakers and won a championship with LeBron James in 2020. With James reportedly considering joining the Warriors in free agency this offseason, Vogel joining Golden State’s coaching staff is notable, though nothing is guaranteed. Vogel also coached the Magic and the Pacers.

Meleek Thomas had 30 points (10-of-24 FGs, 3-of-3 FTs), four rebounds, seven assists, four steals and four three-pointers in the Cavaliers’ 103-94 loss to the Pistons on Sunday.

Thomas dropped 20 points against the Pacers in his first Summer League action on Friday and followed it up with a 30-point performance against the Pistons. The 34th overall pick in the draft, Thomas continues to display excellent scoring ability. The rookie is ticketed for a bench role with the Cavaliers, the question is how many minutes he’s able to earn.

Khaman Maluach had 15 points (5-of-9 FGs, 2-of-3 FTs), 15 rebounds, one assist, one steal, two blocks and two three-pointers in the Suns’ 81-75 loss to the Pelicans on Sunday.

Maluach followed up his double-double against the Trail Blazers on Friday with another double-double against the Pelicans on Sunday. The 19-year-old center was +10 in 28 minutes in a six-point loss for the Suns. Maluach continues to look improved in Summer League play.

Russell Westbrook is a candidate to join the Heat, but not if LeBron James signs with Miami, reports Stefan Bondy of the New York Post.

Westbrook, 37, is an obvious fit for the Heat in the wake of the trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo. He still has something left in the tank and would come cheap, which is a necessity for Miami at this point. Of course, Westbrook is out of the picture if LeBron decides to join Giannis in Miami. James is yet to make a decision in free agency and is reportedly also considering Cleveland, Golden State and Philadelphia.

Alpha Diallo agreed to a one-year, $1.4 million contract with the Nuggets, reports ESPN’s Shams Charania.

Diallo, 29, won EuroLeague Best Defender award last year. Now he’ll make the jump to the NBA on a guaranteed contract with the Nuggets. While Diallo agreed to a relatively cheap contract, the fact a contending team like Denver decided to take a chance on him speaks volumes.

Yang Hansen (illness) is out for Sunday’s game against the Magic.

The 16th overall pick in the 2025 draft, Hansen recorded 12 points, nine rebounds and four assists in Friday’s loss to the Suns. With Donovan Clingan locked into the starting center role and Robert Williams III re-signed, Hansen will once again face long odds to earn consistent rotation minutes when the regular season begins. As for Sunday, his absence means more minutes will be available to Aliou Diarra, who was not selected in last month’s draft.

Jack Kayil finished Saturday’s loss to the Spurs with 12 points (5-of-14 FGs), five rebounds, three assists, two steals and two three-pointers.

Initially a question mark to arrive in Las Vegas at all, Kayil received the necessary clearance from Alba Berlin and made his Knicks summer debut on Saturday. The 39th overall pick in last month’s draft logged 21 minutes off the bench and played well after getting over some early jitters. Kayil has said that his goal is to come over to the NBA immediately and not spend another season in Europe, but he also noted after Saturday’s loss that the decision isn’t up to him. Kayil remaining with Alba Berlin would give the Knicks a little more room under the second apron, which may impact the thinking of Knicks decision-makers.

Tristen Newton finished Saturday’s loss to the Raptors with 18 points (4-of-13 FGs, 3-of-4 FTs), four rebounds, two steals and three three-pointers.

A second-round pick in the 2024 draft, Newton has appeared in nine NBA games during his first two seasons, spending most of his time in the G League. The Rockets’ guard is coming off an excellent season with the franchise’s G League affiliate, and the hope is that Newton plays well enough in Las Vegas to earn a longer look in 2026-27. Newton didn’t have the best game against the Raptors, struggling from the field and not recording an assist. However, his production improved over his output in Friday’s win over the Nuggets, and the ball was in rookie Bruce Thornton’s hands quite often. Given Houston’s depth at point guard, Newton faces long odds of being fantasy-relevant next season.

Sergio de Larrea amassed five points (2-of-4 FGs), three rebounds, four assists, two steals, one block and one three-pointer in Saturday’s loss to the Lakers.

After shooting 3-of-14 in his first summer league appearance on Thursday, de Larrea attempted just four shots on Saturday. He did have some nice assists and was once again active defensively in a decent overall showing. Through two games, it’s clear that some patience will be needed, but de Larrea has the basketball smarts needed to make an impact down the line. He is certainly worth stashing in dynasty leagues.
