Kings selected Darius Acuff Jr. with the No. 7 pick in the NBA Draft.

Acuff’s lone season at Arkansas was an outstanding one, especially once postseason play began. The SEC Player of the Year, Acuff led the Razorbacks to an SEC tournament title and a trip to the Sweet 16. A consensus first-team All-American, he averaged 23.5 points, 3.1 rebounds, 6.4 assists, 0.8 steals and 2.5 three-pointers per game, shooting 48.4 percent from the field, 44.0 percent from three and 80.9 percent from the foul line. Acuff is an uber-talented offensive player that should have the keys to the team from day one. There is plenty of potential for him to post some gaudy counting stats as a rookie, though he may face some of the efficiency issues that many rookie guards deal with.

ESPN’s Shams Charania reports that the Hawks have declined Jonathan Kuminga’s option for the 2026-27 season.

With Kuminga’s $24.33 million option, it’s unsurprising the Hawks declined to exercise it. According to multiple reports, the front office attempted to find a trade partner but failed, leading to this transaction. Acquired from the Warriors, Kuminga appeared in 16 games for Atlanta, averaging 12.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 0.9 steals and 1.1 three-pointers in 22.1 minutes. While he had his moments of fantasy relevance, especially with the Warriors, Kuminga likely needs to land in a position where he’ll be featured to be worth the risk in most drafts.

Grizzlies acquired Kris Murray and Jerami Grant from the Trail Blazers for Ja Morant.

After three seasons in Portland, Murray is on the move as part of the trade headlined by Morant. The 23rd overall pick in the 2023 draft, he appeared in 188 games for Portland, averaging 5.3 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 19.8 minutes. Murray rarely affected fantasy basketball, and a change of scenery could prove beneficial. However, he joins a Grizzlies rotation that has other young options on the wings, most notably 2025 lottery pick Cedric Coward and Jaylen Wells.

The Grizzlies have acquired Jerami Grant and Kris Murray from the Trail Blazers for Ja Morant.

After four seasons, Grant’s time in Portland has come to an end. The veteran forward has been the subject of trade rumors each of the last two seasons, but nothing got done before Monday. Grant appeared in 57 games last season, averaging 18.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 2.4 three-pointers, shooting 45.3 percent from the field and 81.4 percent from the foul line. His departure from Portland frees things up for Deni Avdija and Shaedon Sharpe on the wing, but both will have to find their opportunities within a rotation that includes Morant and Damian Lillard.

ESPN’s Shams Charania reports that the Grizzlies have traded Ja Morant to the Trail Blazers for Jerami Grant and Kris Murray.

The second overall pick in the 2019 draft, Morant’s time in Memphis has come to an end. While there were certainly high points, most notably his winning Rookie of the Year in 2020 and making two All-Star teams, the inability to stay healthy and off-court issues ultimately led the Grizzlies to seek a way to move on. Morant appeared in 20 games last season, averaging 19.5 points, 3.3 rebounds, 8.1 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.0 three-pointers. With the Trail Blazers having Damian Lillard and Jrue Holiday on the roster, it’s fair to wonder if this will be Morant’s final destination. He’ll likely need a move to a third team to protect his fantasy ceiling in 2026-27.

Pistons exercised Daniss Jenkins’ contract option for the 2026-27 season.

While one of the Pistons’ main objectives this offseason is to get more playmaking help for Cade Cunningham, that should not detract from what Jenkins provided last season. Appearing in 72 games, the 6-foot-3 guard contributed 9.3 points, 2.3 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 0.9 steals and 1.0 three-pointers in 20.2 minutes. Jenkins played well enough to remain in the rotation and convince the Pistons to pick up his $4 million option. Whether he can be fantasy-relevant next season depends on multiple factors, including first-round pick Ebuka Okorie’s development and what Detroit does in free agency or the trade market to address its need for another playmaker.

NBA insider Chris Haynes reports that Bradley Beal has opted out of his contract and will become an unrestricted free agent.

Beal has struggled to remain healthy in recent years, having appeared in 60 games just once in his last seven seasons. The 2025-26 campaign was the low point, as knee and hip injuries limited him to six games, with the latter requiring season-ending surgery. Had Beal exercised his player option to remain with the Clippers, he would have received a contract worth $5.26 million. Instead, he’ll hit unrestricted free agency. At his best, he’s capable of offering excellent fantasy value. However, due to the injuries, Beal is not a trustworthy option for fantasy managers.

NBA insider Jake Fischer reports that the Hawks have acquired Devin Carter and a 2033 second-round pick from the Kings.

The 13th overall pick in the 2024 draft, Carter could never truly establish himself after shoulder surgery pushed his NBA debut back to January 2025. Appearing in 74 games over two seasons, the 6-foot-2 guard averaged 6.4 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 14.8 minutes. And with the Kings using their lottery pick on Darius Acuff Jr., Carter was unlikely to get the opportunities needed to reach fantasy relevance. The trade to Atlanta gives him a fresh start, but it’s unlikely to change his fantasy outlook since the Hawks used their lottery pick on Kingston Flemings.

ESPN’s Shams Charania reports that Thomas Bryant intends to sign a one-year deal to remain with the Cavaliers.

While the contract amount was not reported, Bryant is likely to be on the veteran’s minimum. In his first season with the Cavaliers, he averaged 12.1 minutes per game in 60 appearances. Unless something unexpected were to happen with Jarrett Allen or Evan Mobley, Bryant is unlikely to get the playing time needed to affect fantasy basketball. He’ll give the Cavaliers additional post depth off the bench.

NBA insider Chris Haynes reports that Marcus Smart has declined his player option and will become an unrestricted free agent.

After one season in Los Angeles, Smart has reportedly decided to hit free agency. Appearing in 62 games, the veteran guard averaged 9.3 points, 2.8 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.6 three-pointers in 28.5 minutes. On Sunday, NBA insiders Marc Stein and Jake Fischer reported that Houston is a potential landing spot for Smart. Had he opted into the final season of his contract, Smart would have received a base salary of $5.4 million.

NBA insider Jake Fischer reports that the Grizzlies have exercised GG Jackson’s contract option.

Jackson appeared in 55 games last season, averaging 12.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.2 three-pointers in 21.4 minutes. While he has provided decent value in the past, the Grizzlies’ selection of Cameron Boozer and Karim Lopez in the draft, along with the acquisition of Isaiah Stewart, means there will be more players competing with Jackson for rotation minutes. The Grizzlies also exercised Olivier-Maxence Prosper’s option for the 2026-27 season.
