  • FA Defensive Coordinator
“Williams was not involved in any criminal activity,” Schefter reports. “But the Bears’ human resources department was part of the process that culminated in his abrupt resignation Wednesday.” There were rumors to this effect, but they were more sensational, involving federal authorities. This appears more like a workplace issue but obviously a troubling one. Williams had claimed he was “taking a step back to take care of my health and family.” It sounds like we probably have not heard the end of this story.
  • HOU Tackle #78
Also inactive for the Texans are CB Tavierre Thomas, S Jalen Pitre, LB Denzel Perryman, QB Case Keenum, RB Dare Ogunbowale, and DE Derek Rivers. Tunsil had a limited week of practice but is ultimately out, leaving C.J. Stroud to play behind a more vulnerable offensive line. Houston’s defense is also missing a few key players who will hope to return against the Steelers in Week 4.
  • GB Running Back #33
AJ Dillon will get the starting nod again this week. Dillon totaled 16 touches for 63 scoreless yards in his Week 2 start. Playing the bulk of the snaps, he should see an uptick in receiving work versus the Saints. He projects for RB2 numbers this week.
  • GB Wide Receiver #9
Also inactive for the Packers are CB Jaire Alexander, RB Aaron Jones, DB Anthony Johnson, DB Zayne Anderson, OL David Bakhtiari, and OL Elgton Jenkins. Watson is still working his way through the hamstring issue he suffered just before the start of the season. Given his track record fo soft-tissue injuries, the Packers are clearly letting him fully recover before rushing him back into action. Jayden Reed and Romeo Doubs will handle the bulk of the targets for Green Bay in Week 3.
  • MIN Running Back #31
Four days, unsurprisingly, was not enough time for Akers to get up to speed on the Vikings’ offense. He will undoubtedly be active for Week 4 against the Panthers and likely handle a fairly large workload. For Alexander Mattison, today represents his last clear-cut RB2 workload. He hasn’t been providing RB2 fantasy returns. Joining Akers on the sidelines will be C Garrett Bradbury, EDGE Marcus Davenport, TE Nick Muse, DL Khyiris Tonga and QB Jaren Hall.
  • LAC Running Back #30
Pelissero said Ekeler is dealing with a “higher type of ankle sprain.” So it’s a high-ankle sprain for Ekeler. As Pelissero mentioned, the Chargers get their bye in Week 5, meaning Ekeler could get an extended recovery time if his team holds him out in Week 4. That outcome makes the most sense, though it is still possible Ekeler pushes to play sooner. Joshua Kelley will serve as the team’s starter until Ekeler returns.
  • CAR Quarterback #9
Rapoport said Young is dealing with a 1-2 week injury, which means he could play in Week 4 if he comes in on the lower side of the projection. On the other hand, the Panthers don’t need to rush their rookie quarterback back to action, so they could hold him out as a precaution. Andy Dalton will start in Week 3 versus the Seahawks but is off the fantasy radar outside of Superflex leagues.
  • CIN Quarterback #9
Rapoport said that Burrow will go through a pre-game workout to determine his status. It’s possible that the Bengals are employing some gamesmanship with Burrow’s status and simply don’t want to tip their hand to the Rams yet. For fantasy managers, this is a nightmare scenario. Burrow plays on Monday meaning there will be next to no backup options available if Burrow doesn’t go. For the bravest managers looking to gamble with Burrow, Matthew Stafford and Baker Mayfield are the emergency options.
  • NYG Running Back #26
The Giants play on Monday in Week 4, giving Barkley an extra day of rest before potentially suiting up. After reports initially downplayed the nature of Barkley’s ankle issue, Barkley himself eventually confirmed that he was dealing with a high-ankle sprain prior to the Giants’ Thursday game against the 49ers. Though Barkley may have a chance at returning for Week 4, it would be surprising to see the Giants rush him back that quickly. Barkley has labored through injuries in previous seasons and the results weren’t pretty. For now, Matt Breida remains the start in the New York backfield.
  • LAC Linebacker #97
Bosa played through the hamstring last week but was limited to 19 snaps. Despite the pitch count, Bosa racked up two sacks and two TFLs. Per Pelissero, he will see his workload scaled up versus Minnesota. Bosa will still be subbed off to help prevent his hamstring issue from worsening, but it sounds like things are progressing in the right direction for the star defender.
