There’s been no indication that Rice is headed to the injured list as he continues to receive treatment for a left hand bruise that he suffered over the weekend. There should be a clearer picture regarding his availability leading into Thursday’s series finale. It’s possible the Yankees are merely handling the situation with an abundance of caution to make sure Rice, who is rapidly blossoming into one of the elite sluggers in baseball, is fully healthy before he returns to the lineup. Glasnow motioned for the trainer after throwing a warm-up pitch in the bottom of the second inning. There was a brief conversation, and then Glasnow left the mound with the trainer. Glasnow’s fastball velocity was actually up in his first inning, so nothing indicated he was dealing with an injury until he threw that warm-up pitch. We will wait for more information, but there’s a chance he’s just dealing with a minor flare up in his lower back.
