Manager Carlos Mendoza said that Soto would go through a pregame workout on Wednesday that would determine his availability for the game. It seems the workout went just fine, and Soto is in the lineup at designated hitter and hitting second. The team will manage his calf injury with some starts at DH and some days off in the coming weeks, and fantasy manager should expect a little bit less running, but he needs to be in all lineups.
  • SD Starting Pitcher #54
This had been rumored for a few days and is now official. Giolito claims that he is built up to 75 pitches, but he also ended last season on the injured list with flexor irritation, so we’ll need to see him throw on the mound before we get a true sense of how he looks. The Padres optioned him to High-A Lake Elsinore, but Giolito needs to be on the MLB roster in 25 days, which would be May 17th. He would figure to take Matt Waldron’s spot in the rotation by that time.
  • NYM Relief Pitcher #38
What a mess. Williams entered a tie game in the ninth inning and proceeded to walk the first two batters he faced. Then, a sacrifice bunt turned into a failed fielder’s choice when Mark Vientos tried to be a hero and get the runner heading to third. Then, with the infield in and still no one out, a Baltimore chop from Luke Keaschall bounced over Bo Bichette’s head to give the Twins the lead. Williams then walked in another run before he was mercifully pulled. Over his last three outings, Williams has allowed seven runs and recorded four outs. That has pushed him to a 9.95 ERA on the season.
  • CIN Shortstop #44
De La Cruz took Rays starter Steven Matz deep in the opening frame before taking position player Ben Williamson deep in the ninth inning to record his first multi-homer performance of the season. The final blast came in garbage time, but it counts all the same for fantasy purposes. He added an RBI single in the seventh inning to extend Cincinnati’s advantage to nine runs at the time. The dynamic 24-year-old fantasy superstar has left the yard eight times in 24 games, while also chipping in six stolen bases.
  • TEX Left Fielder #36
Langford was replaced in left field by Ezequiel Duran after going 0-for-1 with a walk and his third stolen base of the season. It’s worth noting that the issue isn’t related to the minor quad issue that caused him to miss three games earlier this month. There should be an update on his status shortly.
  • BOS Starting Pitcher #70
Triple-A Worcester manager Chad Tracy told reporters there’s “a pretty good likelihood” that Tolle pitches for the Red Sox later this week. The 23-year-old southpaw, who holds a strong 3.00 ERA and 19/4 K/BB ratio across 15 innings over three starts in the minors this season, figures to get the ball this weekend against the division-rival Orioles with Sonny Gray (hamstring) staring at a multi-week absence. His strikeout upside alone makes Tolle worthy of a fantasy roster spot in all leagues until further notice.
  • LAD 1st Baseman #5
Freeman returns to Los Angeles’ lineup for Tuesday’s contest against the Giants after being away from the club on paternity leave for the last two games. The 36-year-old veteran fantasy stalwart has been his usual productive self, slashing .296/.360/.519 with three homers and 14 RBI through 20 games this season.
  • PHI Starting Pitcher #45
Wheeler makes his return to Philadelphia’s rotation after undergoing surgery to address thoracic outlet syndrome last August. The 35-year-old former fantasy ace’s velocity has been down consistently during a handful of recent minor league rehab outings, which makes it challenging to forecast how he’ll fare from a fantasy perspective. It’s impossible to dismiss Wheeler entirely based on his lengthy track record of success, but a wait-and-see approach seems like the best idea given his extended layoff and how he’s looked in minor league games recently.
  • ATL Relief Pitcher #26
It’s an encouraging update after Atlanta’s closer hit the injured list earlier on Tuesday with shoulder inflammation. It appears that Iglesias isn’t dealing with any structural issues that would’ve require a lengthy absence and possibly even surgery. The Braves are optimistic he’ll be cleared to resume throwing once the swelling subsides and there should be a clear return timetable once he resumes facing hitters. It’ll be hard-throwing veteran Robert Suarez handling the closing duties in his absence. He should be rostered in all fantasy formats until Iglesias returns.
  • NYM Right Fielder #22
Mendoza confirmed multiple reports earlier on Tuesday that Soto would return for Wednesday’s contest after missing just over two weeks with a right calf strain. Fantasy managers should prepare to have him back in their lineups. His return will provide a much-needed lift for the free-falling Mets, who have lost 11 straight games.
