It’s challenging to forecast Holliday making a significant fantasy impact right away since he didn’t exactly tear the cover off the ball during his latest rehab stint in the upper minors. The 22-year-old former top prospect experienced several setbacks during his rehabilitation process and has been on the shelf since undergoing surgery to repair a hamate fracture back in spring training. It may take time to shake off the metaphorical cobwebs, but Holliday should be an impactful fantasy contributor at second base this season, but only if he’s finally put the hand issue to bed. He figures to spend some time at both second and third base with the Orioles over the remainder of the year.
  • TEX Shortstop #5
It’s extremely unfortunate timing for fantasy managers with the Rangers opening a three-game series at Coors Field on Monday night. The decision was made to give Seager some extra time off after he left the club to visit a back specialist after undergoing an MRI over the weekend. The major concern here is that back issues can be complicated matters. There should be a rough timetable for his return at some point in the near future. It’ll be Ezequiel Duran taking over at shortstop in his absence.
  • ATL Right Fielder #13
He’s officially back. Atlanta apparently decided to reverse course and bring Acuña off the injured list for Monday’s series opener against the Marlins after manager Walt Weiss expressed some concerns about the artificial turf at loanDepot park. He’s not in the lineup for Monday’s series opener, but figures to be available off the bench. The 28-year-old fantasy superstar wound up missing just over two weeks with a Grade 1 left hamstring strain. Fantasy managers should make sure he’s back in lineups this week.
  • NYY Starting Pitcher #45
New York has an opening in their rotation for Friday’s series opener against the division-rival Rays in Yankee Stadium after shipping rookie starter Elmer Rodríguez back to the minors. It’s hardly official yet, but Cole would be making his first start in the big leagues since Game 5 of the World Series back in 2024 after missing all of last year recovering from Tommy John surgery. He threw 86 pitches, while averaging 97 mph on his four-seam fastball, over 5 1/3 innings for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in his latest rehab outing last weekend. It certainly sounds like a strong possibility Cole returns later this week. He should be rostered in all fantasy leagues.
  • PHI Designated Hitter #12
Phillies interim manager Don Mattingly told reporters Schwarber is under the weather and will get some time off to rest and recover. The 33-year-old slugger is arguably the hottest hitter in baseball right now after homering nine times in his last 10 games. He leads the majors with 20 big flies in 47 games. It doesn’t sound like a serious concern and fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day.
  • MIN Center Fielder #25
Buxton participated in pregame workouts over the weekend but has been held out of game action since last Wednesday due to right hip flexor soreness. Twins manager Derek Shelton told reporters prior to Monday’s series opener that Buxton is “very close” to returning to the lineup. However, it’ll be James Outman patrolling center field on Monday night. It certainly sounds like there’s a strong possibility Buxton is ready for Tuesday’s contest, which is a massive relief for fantasy managers.
  • KC Starting Pitcher #50
It sounds like a precautionary decision by Kansas City after Bubic told reporters he experienced more soreness than usual following his last start against the White Sox where he allowed five runs over four innings. The 28-year-old lefty will undergo further evaluation, and likely imaging, to determine whether he’s dealing with anything from a structural standpoint. At a minimum, he’ll wind up missing at least a couple weeks.
  • BAL 2nd Baseman #7
Holliday had hamate bone surgery on the same day in the spring that Francisco Lindor did, and has yet to make his season debut. He’s had a few setbacks during his rehab assignment and has played 22 rehab games so far, hitting .176/.291/.284 with a 27 percent strikeout rate over that stretch. We would not be running to add him in fantasy leagues, but would prefer to wait and see what the contact quality looks like, given the surgery and subsequent setbacks.
  • SD 1st Baseman #30
Sheets took George Kirby deep in the first and sixth innings in a performance that raised his OPS from .804 to .896. Sheets was also flying pretty high early in the 2025 season, and though he didn’t quite keep it up, he had easily his best year to date. This year, so far, his EV, bat speed and strikeout numbers are all quite similar to last season. It’s probably not going to lead to any lasting mixed-league value, but he’s turned into a nice contributor in San Diego after 3 1/3 years with the White Sox in which he was one of the AL’s worst players.
  • SD Starting Pitcher
Giolito had just two batters reach on a hit and a HBP through five. The sixth, though, started with three straight walks, and all three runners came around to score after he departed a 7-0 game. Things might have turned out differently if the Padres had challenged the 3-1 pitch to Cole Emerson that started the rally. It would have been overturned and led to a full count offering. Before the sixth, Giolito was very successful despite averaging just 90.4 mph with his fastball in his 2026 debut. Prior to his elbow issue, he averaged 93.3 mph for the Red Sox last year. Until he picks up the velocity some, he shouldn’t be considered in mixed leagues. He’ll face the A’s next time out.
