Ryan Getzlaf’s brother Chris named Grey Cup’s Most Outstanding Canadian

You may or may not have already known that Ryan Getzlaf isn’t the only person in his family who plays professional sports. He also isn’t the only brother who’s won a championship.

Chris Getzlaf’s Saskatchewan Roughriders won the 101st Grey Cup 45-23 over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Sunday, while he received the Grey Cup’s Most Outstanding Canadian award (aka the Dick Suderman Trophy).* He won it unanimously, according to the National Post.

Chris Getzlaf, 30, also topped the Roughriders in receiving during this past season, with 1,045 yards.

His brother Ryan might still have the edge financially and gold medal-wise, but at least Chris can say he’s a champion and individual award winner, which could help if the winter holidays double as bragging contests in the Getzlaf house.

* - Note: there’s also a Most Outstanding Canadian award for the season, which Jon Cornish of the Calgary Stampeders received.
