Ohtani hit what many call a “little league homer” by tripling and then scoring on a throwing error from Jo Adell. He drove in three more runs on a bases-loaded double in the ninth. The 31-year-old perennial MVP was also able to steal his sixth base on the season and he just so happens to pitch now and then. The .247 average and .449 slugging percentage are disappointing marks this “late” for Ohtani, but there’s very little reason to believe he won’t be among the best hitters in baseball by the time summer is over.
  • NYM Left Fielder #22
Just hours after it was announced that he’s been dealing with discomfort in his foot, elbow and wrist; Soto was able to show they’re not bugging him too much with his second and third stolen base of the season. The 27-year-old star also drew a pair of walks, and now hitting a very solid .284/.383/.505 on the campaign. Those are pretty good numbers for the overwhelming majority of hitters, but they’re not quite what fantasy managers are hoping for with a player of Soto’s capability.
  • CWS 1st Baseman #5
Murakami hit two of the five homers the White Sox procured against a wholly ineffective Jameson Taillon. That brings the rookie’s season total to 17, and he also drew a walk and scored a third run for good measure. Murakami’s power is undeniable. Whether or not the severe swing-and-miss will come around to make that power not matter is still a question mark, but there’s simply no denying that impact he’s made to begin 2026.
  • HOU 2nd Baseman #27
Nick Allen replaced him at the end of Friday’s game. If Altuve lands on the IL, the Astros could give Brice Matthews some time at second base. He’ll be less needed in the outfield with Jake Meyers and Joey Loperfido nearly ready to return. Braden Shewmake could also play some second base after Jeremy Peña is activated.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #7
Roberts was not sure if the operation will be the same that Tarik Skubal underwent, which carries a 4-6 week recovery timeline. If he did undergo that procedure, it would put him out through at least July, with a return after the All-Star break the most likely outcome. River Ryan is expected to take Snell’s place in the rotation in the meantime. When healthy, Snell is one of the best in baseball, but it’s yet another season that will be shortened substantially due to injury.
  • PHI Starting Pitcher #61
Sánchez was masterful on Saturday, tossing the third complete-game shutout in baseball this season. He scattered six hits and no walks, tossing an efficient 74 of 108 pitches for strikes and generating 17 whiffs to strike out a career-high 13 batters. The 29-year-old left-hander has posted a 1.82 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, and an 80/14 K/BB ratio across 64 1/3 innings. He’ll follow up the dominant start with a matchup against the Guardians in Philadelphia on Friday.
  • NYM Left Fielder #22
Soto is not only receiving treatment on the foot, but he continues to deal with discomfort on his wrist, and he also has been dealing with elbow discomfort. “As long as he’s not putting anything at risk, he’ll continue to play,” Mets manager Carlos Mendoza told reporters. Soto has been solid if unspectacular despite these injuries with a .271 average, .858 OPS and six homers over 124 plate appearances.
  • BOS Shortstop #10
The move is now official. It’s unclear whether Story will require surgery to address the groin issue that Red Sox interim manager Chad Tracy told reporters has been bothering him pretty much all season. The lingering physical issue certainly helps explain his abysmal performance at the plate where he’s batted .206/.244/.303 triple-slash line with three homers and four steals through 41 games. It would make sense for the Red Sox to consider moving former top prospect Marcelo Mayer back to shortstop, but all indications are that Andruw Monasterio is going to be their short-term stopgap at the position with Isiah Kiner-Falefa and Nick Sogard taking the occasional turn. There should be some additional clarity on Story’s return timeline relatively soon.
  • TOR Relief Pitcher #77
Varland struck out pinch-hitter Colt Keith to extinguish a ninth-inning threat and send a tie ballgame to extra innings before coming back out to protect a one-run lead. The hard-throwing 28-year-old coaxed ground balls from Jake Rogers and Kevin McGonigle before striking out Dillon Dingler to end it. It doesn’t go down as a save, but fantasy managers will take the win, his second of the season. He’s been phenomenal this season, converting five saves to go along with a microscopic 0.38 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 34/9 K/BB ratio across 23 2/3 innings. He certainly looks like Toronto’s primary closer right now.
  • DET Starting Pitcher #12
Mize looked extremely impressive in his return to Detroit’s rotation, limiting Toronto’s formidable lineup to just a pair of hits while inducing some ugly looking swings. He generated 10 swinging strikes, with half of those coming on his slider, and needed an economical 71 pitches (51 strikes) to navigate six innings. Clearly, the Tigers didn’t want to push him from a workload and stamina perspective in his return from the injured list, which is why he didn’t work deeper into this contest. He’s compiled an impressive 2.43 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 39/11 K/BB ratio across 37 innings over seven starts this season. He’ll face the Guardians his next time out on Thursday.
