Watch Claude Giroux make like Pavel Datsyuk in the shootout

One of the few good things about the shootout is that it sometimes allows players to pull off truly incredible shots when they’re inspired. For Philly’s Claude Giroux last night against Toronto, his inspiration to beat Jonas Gustavsson was pretty clear: He wanted to do it like Pavel Datsyuk.

Giroux’s incredible dangle and score was the only goal of the shootout in Philly’s 1-0 win over Toronto and he told’s Sarah Baicker after the game that he’s calling that move, “The Datsyuk.”

“I saw him do it a couple times, and he’s got some pretty sick moves. I saw him do it, and I’ve been working on it since I’m younger,” Giroux said.

Since he was younger? He’s just 24 himself. Darn kids these days. What’s “The Datsyuk” look like anyhow? Check out the video courtesy of CSNPhilly.

Sick dangle, sick hands, and a sick player to get the idea from.
