--Over the years, several good teams failed to make significant moves at the trade deadline. The Hockey News looks at five teams that should have done more before the deadline. --Good friends Willie Mitchell and Dan Hamhuis have gone into business together. They’ve purchased a restaurant and a marina in British Columbia. Hamhuis is still getting used to being a small business owner and says he still doesn’t know what his strengths are in that area, but he’s slowly starting to figure it out thanks to Mitchell. --MLive.com put together a list of the top 25 Michigan-born hockey players based on career stats, accomplishments and longevity. Mike Modano, who leads all American-born players in points with 1,374, is at the top of the list, while current NHLers Ryan Kesler, Alec Martinez, Torey Krug and Justin Abdelkader all made the list too. --The Detroit Red Wings could have used a couple of those top 25 Michigan-born players last night, as they dropped an ugly 6-1 decision to the Boston Bruins. You can watch the highlights from that game by clicking the video at the top of the page.

--Sportsnet’s Jeff Marek does his monthly breakdown of the top 31 prospects for the upcoming NHL Entry Draft. To no one’s surprise, Nolan Patrick is still at the top of the list, but Halifax center Nico Hischier has leaped over defenseman Timothy Liljegren for second spot. (Sportsnet)

--Damon Kwame Mason directed an 84-minute documentary called ‘Soul on Ice’ that focuses on the Coloured Hockey League, which was founded in the Maritimes roughly 30 years before the Negro baseball leagues. “When I learned about the league I was blown away because it was a league where blacks were first-generation slaves that came across the Underground Railroad and wanted to do what everyone in the area was doing and they picked up the game of hockey. America talks a lot about the Negro baseball league and Canada should be talking more about the Coloured Hockey League because that’s the first organized sport for blacks in North America.” (NHL.com)
