  • SD 3rd Baseman #13
Personalize your Rotoworld feed by favoriting players
It’s an extremely rare day off for Machado following a precautionary exit from Monday’s series opener due to a left leg issue. Jake Cronenworth takes over at the hot corner for the first time in his career with Fernando Tatis Jr. making another start at second base. It doesn’t appear to be a significant concern, but that Padres are going to give Machado a little extra time off to rest and recover.
  • ATL Starting Pitcher #99
Atlanta hasn’t finalized their pitching plan for the remainder of the week, but Strider will be part of it, most likely on Sunday in place of journeyman Martín Pérez, after missing the opening five weeks of the season recovering from an oblique strain. The 27-year-old former fantasy ace shouldn’t have any workload restrictions after throwing 82 pitches during his final rehab start for Triple-A Gwinnett over the weekend. It’s a challenging spot having to contend with Coors Field’s high-octane offensive environment right out of the gate, but Strider is probably going to be worth the risk for managers in deeper fantasy leagues that have been stashing him this long.
  • NYM Left Fielder #22
Not good. Mendoza added that they’re hoping Soto, who is in Tuesday’s lineup at DH, will be ready to return to the outfield in the next couple days. He also noted that Soto underwent an MRI that didn’t reveal any structural damage, which is an encouraging sign. The 27-year-old generational has gone (3-for-15) with zero extra-base hits and six walks in five games since returning from the injured list last week. It doesn’t sound like a massive concern, but it’s a developing situation that fantasy managers should be closely monitoring.
  • NYY Designated Hitter #27
As expected, Stanton hits the injured list after suffering the “mild” strain during Friday’s game against the Astros. It’s feasible this could be a short stint on the list for the 36-year-old slugger, and it’s possible — although far from a guarantee — that he’s back in the New York lineup by the early portion of May.
  • NYM Starting Pitcher #34
Senga has really struggled in 2026, and after allowing three runs and going just 2 2/3 innings against the Rockies on Sunday, he now has an ERA of 9.00 on the season. The spinal injury will keep him out at least two weeks, but a better idea of when Senga will be able to return to the New York rotation.
  • PHI Manager
Don Mattingly, who joined the team as bench coach this offseason, will take over as interim manager. Thomson becomes the second manager fired this month after the Red Sox fired Alex Cora over the weekend. In fact, many reports suggest that Thomson’s firing could be directly tied to that, since Dave Dombrowski, the Phillies’ president of baseball operations, has a close relationship with Cora from their time together in Boston. A potential manager swap was made easier with the Phillies’ getting out to a 9-19 start to the season, tied with the Mets for the worst record in baseball. Thomson ends his Phillies career with a record of 355-270 for a .568 winning percentage, which is second-best in franchise history. He took the Phillies to the World Series in 2022, but the team then lost in the NLCS in 2023, the Division Series in 2024, and the Division Series in 2025. Thomson will likely get another chance to manage if he wants one.
  • MIA Relief Pitcher #29
Fairbanks has Reynaud’s Syndrome, which leads to poor blood flow to his fingers in cold weather, but no word yet if tonight’s issue was related to that. Fairbanks wound up being charged with three runs in one-third of an inning and took his second loss tonight. If he’s forced to the IL, then Tyler Phillips, Calvin Faucher and Anthony Bender could be candidates for saves.
  • LAD Right Fielder #23
Tucker has his first big moment for the Dodgers. The 29-year-old came up with two outs and the bases loaded with the Marlins trailing 4-3, and he laced a single up the middle to score a pair to give Los Angeles the win. Tucker has not gotten off to a hot start as seen in his .230/.326/.364 line, but he’s been one of baseball’s best hitters for the past decade or so despite rarely playing his best in the early portion of the season. There’s very little reason to think he won’t get it going shortly.
  • STL Shortstop #26
Wetherholt’s clutch homer against Pirates closer Dennis Santana traveled 408 feet into the right-center field seats. It was his only hit in four at-bats, but it ignited a four-run rally as the Cardinals erased a two-run deficit after being shut out through eight innings. The 23-year-old rookie sensation has homered in back-to-back games and is up to six round-trippers through 28 games. The early returns suggest he’s on track to be one of the top second basemen in the fantasy landscape for years to come.
  • CLE Starting Pitcher #77
Messick struck out the side in the opening frame and continued rolling from there, scattering three baserunners over five frames and carrying a shutout into the sixth inning before finally meeting some pushback. He issued a leadoff walk to veteran Yandy Díaz before lefty-masher Ryan Vilade delivered a run-scoring single with two outs that chased him from the contest after 95 pitches (58 strikes). The unheralded 25-year-old rookie isn’t overpowering, but he manages to keep hitters off balance by changing speeds and mixing locations. He’s been a revelation this season with a sparkling 1.73 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 38/10 K/BB ratio across 36 1/3 innings over six starts. He’ll close out a two-start week with a challenging road matchup against the Athletics on Sunday.
