The $1.5 million minimum salary — a significant jump from the $780,000 minimum that currently exists — is among the highlights of the initial proposal, but far from the only ask. The union proposes a “competitive-integrity tax” for any team that does not spend $150 million in their respective season. Among the other highlights are a proposed jump from $50 million to $180 million in the bonus pool, a minimum tender in arbitration of $3 million, and a jump in Super 2 players from 22 percent of the field to 44 percent. The MLB owners are expected to make their initial proposal to the player’s association Thursday.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #17
The Dodgers will take a wait-and-see approach on Ohtani’s availability as a DH. He was originally slated to hit Wednesday for the second straight start on the mound, but if there’s any hand soreness at all, he’ll probably be restricted from double duty. The positive news is that he managed to avoid serious injury after being hit by a pitch during Tuesday’s one-sided affair.
  • LAD Shortstop #50
Betts made a statement after being dropped to the cleanup spot for the first time since 2017, taking Rockies starter Kyle Freeland deep for a two-run blast in the first inning. He added a single in the third, then later extended the lead with a three-run blast in the sixth off Zach Agnos to give him five RBI. Betts had just one hit in his previous four games before Tuesday’s offensive breakthrough. The 33-year-old shortstop is slashing .190/.250/.429 with six homers, 13 runs scored, and 15 RBI across 92 plate appearances.
  • CIN Starting Pitcher #21
Greene progressed to throwing off a bullpen mound for the first time since undergoing arthroscopic surgery to remove bone chips and loose bodies from his pitching elbow back in early March. The hard-throwing 26-year-old ace figures to ramp-up his throwing program over the next few weeks before starting a rehab assignment. It seems reason able that he’ll be ready to make his season debut sometime around the All-Star break in mid-July.
  • SF Starting Pitcher #62
Giants manager Tony Vitello confirmed Webb will take the ball later this week in his return from the injured list after missing just over three weeks with right knee bursitis. The 29-year-old upper-echelon fantasy starter was hit hard in his first couple outings, but remains one of the more durable workhorses in the game. He’ll face a tough matchup right out of the gate at hitter-friendly Coors Field, but he’s worth the risk in nearly every fantasy formats imaginable.
  • TEX 3rd Baseman #6
The Rangers could certainly use some additional firepower after being no-hit by the Astros during Monday’s series opener and struggling to score runs during a four-game losing streak. Jung is back at third base and hitting cleanup following a two-game absence due to left shoulder soreness. He’s ready to roll after a precautionary MRI came back clean for any structural damage. The 28-year-old has put together the start of a breakthrough campaign, slashing .302/.357/.462 with 22 runs scored, five homers, 21 RBI and one steal across 199 plate appearances over 48 games.
  • DET Starting Pitcher #29
Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said previously that Skubal will make at least one minor league rehab start before returning to Detroit’s rotation. He’ll throw a bullpen session later this week before facing hitters again in another live batting practice session before the club determines his next steps. It’s theoretically possible he could be ready to pitch in the majors at some point in mid-June based on his present trajectory.
  • PIT Shortstop #85
It’s finally happened. Griffin will get his opportunity as Pittsburgh’s top-of-the-order igniter during Tuesday’s showdown against the division-rival Cubs after mostly towards the bottom of the order since being called up last month. The 20-year-old prodigy has put together a couple strong weeks in a row, hitting .296/.356/.432 with 16 runs scored, one homer, seven RBI and five steals in 21 games since the start of May. He’ll pick up a few additional stolen base opportunities out of the leadoff spot, which is nice bonus for fantasy managers.
  • TOR 1st Baseman #27
Lenyn Sosa will make another start at first base in his place. Blue Jays manager John Schneider told reporters Guerrero was able to hit prior to Tuesday’s contest but is still pretty sore. The 27-year-old franchise cornerstone will miss his second straight contest after being hit by a pitch on the right elbow over the weekend. It’s impossible to rule out a trip to the injured list the longer his absence lingers, but all signs point to Guerrero returning this week, especially since initial X-rays didn’t reveal any fractures. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day heading into Wednesday’s series finale.
  • ATH Starting Pitcher
Jump will make his major-league debut on Tuesday against the division-rival Mariners with veteran Luis Severino being pushed back an extra day. The 23-year-old southpaw, who was selected in the second round of the 2024 MLB Draft out of LSU, has compiled a solid 4.50 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 56/20 K/BB ratio across 38 innings in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League this season. He attacks hitters with an unorthodox delivery and a repertoire that features a mid-90s fastball, a strong curveball and multiple slider variations. Jump projects as more of a mid-rotation starter long term, but he misses enough bats to warrant immediate interest in deeper mixed leagues.
